U.S. forces boarded the Iranian-linked tanker Veronica III in the Indian Ocean in what the Pentagon described as a maritime “right-of-visit” interdiction, after tracking the vessel from the Caribbean across international waters.

The operation was conducted without incident as part of Washington’s expanded enforcement campaign targeting sanctioned Iranian oil shipments and ghost fleet tankers.

The tanker, carrying 1.9 million barrels of oil, escaped from Venezuela on January 3, the day Nicolás Maduro was captured, and violated American sanctions. The US military chased it all the way to the Indian Ocean and stopped it in the last few hours.

American drone manufacturer Easy Aerial has been forced to leave the city-owned Brooklyn Navy Yard after the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation, whose board is appointed by the mayor, declined to renew its lease roughly six weeks after Mayor Zohran Mamdani took office.

The move follows sustained pressure over the company’s sale of surveillance and autonomous drone systems to Israel.

Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced it has suspended non-essential activities at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, south Gaza, due to escalating security concerns, citing the presence of armed individuals, some masked, inside the facility in recent months.

In a statement, MSF said the decision was taken over concerns related to management and the safety of patients and staff, stressing that its teams had witnessed weapons inside the hospital complex. The organization did not specify how long the suspension would last but indicated it would reassess operations depending on conditions on the ground.

Nasser Hospital is not foreign to the presence of terrorists on its premises, as I previously reported:

Israel's National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir:

I arrived together with bereaved families to closely monitor the preparations for Ramadan and to ensure that the minimum policy I lead together with the Prison Service Commissioner is fully implemented, with no concessions to terrorists.

I came to strengthen and left strengthened. Committed to the bereaved families and the people of Israel. We will continue to tighten the conditions for terrorists - until the enactment of the death penalty law for terrorists.

Governance with full force.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu informed National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir to soften key clauses in the Death Penalty for terrorists bill, saying that some clauses are harsher than the death penalty law in the US, and this will lead to international pressure.

Netanyahu clarified that without softening the law, the proposal will be blocked. Ben Gvir refuses to change it.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered remarks at the opening gala of the Conference of Presidents’ 51st Annual National Leadership Mission in Jerusalem. Keynotes:

On Iran

Iran is reliable on one thing: they lie and they cheat.

If a deal is to be reached, it should have several components, several components that we believe are important not only for the security of Israel, but for the security of the world: the United States, the region, the world.

The first is that all enriched material has to leave Iran. The second is that there shall be no enrichment capability, not just stopping the enrichment process, but dismantling the equipment and the infrastructure that allow enrichment in the first place. The third is to address the question of ballistic missiles. There's an MTCR limitation of 300 kilometers, and Iran is supposed to adhere to it, of course, it doesn't, as the Rising Lion Operation (12Day Iran-Israel war) itself demonstrates, as everybody knows. And the fourth is to dismantle the axis of terror that Iran has built. It's been smashed, but it's still there; it's trying to recover, as Iran itself is trying to do.

Trump is determined to exhaust the possibilities of achieving a deal, which he believes can be achieved now because of the circumstances that have been created, the force projection, and the fact that, as he says, Iran must surely understand that they missed out last time, and he thinks there's a serious probability that they won't miss out this time.

On Hamas and Gaza

There are practically no heavy weapons in Gaza. There's no artillery, there are no tanks, there's nothing. The heavy weapon, the one that does the most damage, is called an AK-47. Okay? That's it. That's how they execute people. That's how they shoot our people. That's what they use - assault rifles. That's what they used in the massacre of October 7th. That's what they used. That's what they, they did the worst massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust with AK-47s. 60,000 of them. They have to go outside.

They (Hamas) still have tunnels there. We dismantled about 150 kilometers of 500 kilometers of tunnels. We have to complete the job.

Gaza will not pose a threat ever again to the State of Israel.

On Israel's cyber and AI sectors

About 10 years ago, I said that Israel would be among the top three cyber powers in the world. I was right.

Israel - tiny Israel, with 10 million people - receives more foreign investment in cyber tech than any other country in the world, except the United States. I’m talking about absolute numbers. That’s what we achieved in 10 years. Guess what? We’re going to do exactly the same thing in AI. We’re going to do the same in quantum.

On Israel's defense independence

We can afford to phase out the financial component of the military aid that we’re receiving (from the U.S). I propose a 10-year drawdown to zero. In the three years that remain in the present memorandum of understanding, and over another seven years, we will draw it down to zero. Israel will support itself, just as we fight for ourselves.

Our goal is to build an independent arms industry in Israel.

Iran has stated that an agreement which delivers economic benefits to both sides, including potential energy, mining and aircraft deals, is on the table in ongoing nuclear talks that are expected to continue this week with the United States.

The Deputy Director for Economic Diplomacy under the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Hamid Ghanbari, told the Iran state-run Fars News Agency, “For the sake of an agreement's durability, it is essential that the U.S. also benefits in areas with high and quick economic returns… Common interests in the oil and gas fields, joint fields, mining investments, and even aircraft purchases are included in the negotiations.”

Hamid claimed that the primary reason the nuclear deal in 2015 negotiated by the Obama Administration failed, was because it didn’t also secure the economic interests of the United States, interests which he states would be discussed during Tuesday’s meeting in Geneva between Iranian officials and the American delegation led by White House special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

Iran is ready to consider compromises to reach a nuclear deal with the United States if Washington is willing to discuss lifting sanctions, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi told the BBC during an interview on Sunday.

This is an interview from August 2025 with Ali Akbar Salehi, former head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization:

"In the negotiations on the nuclear agreement (2015), we told the Americans that we would not destroy the heavy water pipes at the Arak facility, but rather fill them with concrete to show they were disabled, and they agreed to that. We did not say that we had additional pipes that we could still use in the future - and that is what we actually did.

Regarding the production of uranium metal, we were told we were not allowed to produce it for 15 years, and we agreed to that. But I told my team to research and focus on producing a metal similar to uranium. They did so, also establishing and installing the plant in Isfahan.

When inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency came to check, they were surprised, but could not accuse us of violating the agreement. Our commitment was not to produce uranium metal, not to forbid the production of other metals altogether. So in fact, we did not lie."
