More than 250,000 people gathered in Munich on Saturday in one of the largest anti-Iranian regime demonstrations held outside the country in recent years, as the Munich Security Conference brought world leaders to the German city.
Protesters, many of them Iranian expatriates from across Europe, voiced solidarity with demonstrators inside Iran and called for the overthrow of the Islamic Republic. Iranian opposition flags were prominently displayed, alongside Israeli flags visible in parts of the crowd.
Organizers said the rally aimed to send a message to Western leaders attending the conference that engagement with Tehran should not come at the expense of support for the Iranian people.
Additional gatherings were held also in other countries, like Poland, Italy, Canada amd Greece.
Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran's last Shah (King): "It is a matter of time. We are hoping that this attack will expedite the process and the people can be finally back in the streets and take it all the way to the ultimate regime's downfall. People are hoping that at some point the decision will be made that there is no use, there is no point, we are not going to get anywhere with negotiations. Therefore, that is time for the US to intervene and do what President Trump promised he will do, to have the people's back. Intervention is a way to save lives."
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham at the gathering in Munich said: "I heard your cry. I am here to help you get rid of this regime. The Ayatollahs must go. The people of Iran will gain their freedom. Help is on the way, keep protesting. Your day of freedom is near."
