Today marks on year since the Pager Operation conducted by Israel on the Hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon

On 17 September 2024, thousands of pagers distributed among Hezbollah members exploded simultaneously in Lebanon (especially in areas like Dahiyeh in Beirut, southern Lebanon, and the Beqaa Valley), causing mass injuries and many deaths.

The next day, there was a second wave involving walkie-talkies and other communication devices, which also detonated.

Naim Qassem, Hezbollah Secretary General, is expected to deliver a speech today marking the first anniversary of the operation.

On the anniversary of the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, the group announced plans to project the faces of Nasrallah and Hashim Safieddine onto Beirut’s iconic Raouche Rock.

The move sparked strong political backlash, with multiple members of parliament and even former allies of Hezbollah intervening and speaking against the move.

Heavy pressure is exerted from all sides on the governor of Beirut to block the display.

🌲 - 🇱🇧🇮🇷🇮🇱 | 🌟 One year after the September 17, 2024 pager explosions, the incident still raises eyebrows for how deeply it penetrated Hezbollah’s networks and how far its consequences spread.

Even Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, was injured in one eye and lost a finger to one of the booby-trapped devices. The spectacle of a foreign envoy being caught up in militia-issued hardware underscores how blurred the lines have become in Lebanon.

That abnormality has become the “normal”: Hezbollah’s weapons, supply chains, and foreign sponsors intertwine with everyday society so much that even an ambassador can end up with injuries from a device meant for fighters.

As for Hezbollah, the pager and walkie-talkie explosions remain a textbook case of strategic blunders. The group exposed itself to a supply-chain ambush that killed dozens, injured thousands, and even left Iran’s own ambassador in Lebanon wounded.

Hezbollah's Security Committee cards, which used to facilitate the movements of its members and the smuggling of its weapons and drugs on Lebanese territories, have been completely suspended and rendered useless, and state agencies no longer recognize them following the government's decision to restrict arms to the hands of the state.

Moreover, the transit facilitation cards issued by the Intelligence Directorate have come under strict oversight and are no longer granted to just anyone.

Public Security has also stopped issuing transit cards to some members of palestinian factions, and all of them have become illegal, exposing their holders to arrest.

Turkish President Erdogan:

"Turkey believes in a world where might does not make right, but where those who are right are strong.

We will stand tall against those who want to turn our region into a sea of blood.

No one can stop us from standing with the oppressed people of Gaza who are struggling to survive under Israel’s brutal attacks.

We will never allow the holy city of Jerusalem to be defiled by unworthy hands.

I know that those who idolize Hitler may never get over their bitterness.

Let them keep throwing their tantrums. We, as Muslims, will not take even a single step back from our rights over East Jerusalem.

As a nation that carried Islam’s banner for centuries, we had the honor of serving Jerusalem for 400 years.

Netanyahu may not know this, but perhaps he will: with respect, wisdom, and tolerance, we made this blessed city a land of peace for centuries."
