In Corinth among the Christians, there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty according to the flesh, not many noble according to the flesh. Much like those of us here in Ethiopia. But the people of Corinth were beginning to think highly of themselves because of God's work in them. Paul reminds them, like he reminds us today, they were not chosen because they themselves were so great, but because God was gracious and great.

ምን መጸለይ እንዳለብኝ በማላውቅበት ጊዜ ዳዊት የእኔ ጥልቅ የመነፅናናት ምንጭ ነው። በእነዚህ ሁለት ጥቅሶች ውስጥ ብቻ እንኳ፣ ዳዊት እግዚአብሔርን በመከራው ጊዜ ከሁሉ የላቀ ታማኝ ጓደኛው እናም ታላቅ ምንጩ አድርጎ ሲመለከተው እንመለከታለን። የጌታን ቸርነት እና ከምድራዊ ሀብት በላይ የሆነውን የእግዚአብሔርን አቅርቦት ያስታውሳል። ዛሬ ለእግዚአብሔር የምትናገሪውን እንደ እኔ ያጣሽ ከሆነ፣ እኔም አንቺም ከዳዊት ቃላትን እንዋስ። ታማኙ፣ ቅርቡ አምላካችን እርሱን እንደሰማው እኛንም ይሰማናል።

David is my deepest source of inspiration when I don't know what to pray. In just these two verses alone, we see David considering God to be his greatest confidant in his time of suffering and His greatest source. He reminds himself of the goodness of the Lord, and the provision of God that is beyond earthly possessions. If you don't know what to say to God today, consider borrowing David's words as I do.

This last Sunday in church, I heard the message we've all heard before. We must go out and reach the unreached because that mandate has now been given to us. But, I wonder how many of us feel true heartbreak for those who have never heard the good news. How many of us consider our neighbors, our friends, our family members who don't know the Lord, and feel grieved by this? But the true heart of the Gospel is the heart of the Lord, the heart of the Lord that felt deep compassion for those who were living like sheep without a shepherd.

ጌታ ይርዳን።

Everything we do glorifies something or someone. Because all of our actions are driven by the desires and pleasures of our hearts, they say something about who is sitting on the throne of our hearts. God calls us to do every little thing to the glory of His name. Is this a call to just modify our behavior? No. This is a call to place the Lord on the throne of our hearts. This is a call to glorify Him through the new creation He makes of us.

May the Lord help us.

ጳውሎስ የክርስቶስን ትሕትና ይዘን እንድንገኝ እየጠየቀን ነው። ከራስ ወዳድነት ፍላጎት ወይም ከንቱ ትምክህት የተነሳ ምንም እንዳናደርግ ያዘናል፤ ይልቁንም ልክ ክርስቶስ እራሱን ዝቅ እንዳደረገ እኛም ከራሳችን በላይ ለሌሎች እንድናስብ ይነግረናል፣ ይህም ከክርስቶስ አስተሳሰብ ጋር መካፈል እንደሆነ ያስተምረናል።

Paul here asks us to imitate Christ's humility. He asks of us to do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit; but to consider others more important than ourselves just like Christ considered us to be more important.

I pray the Lord teaches you and me to die to ourselves today, and serve his sons and daughters with joy.

We must think of the heaviness of the Gospel; and no better time than this week to consider the centrality of Christ's death and resurrection to this Gospel. He is our hope, He is our salvation, and He is our life because not only did He die for us, but also rose again. We can believe everything He says because He rose again and He lives.

ኢየሱስ ደሙን የሚያቀርበው አሮጌው ኪዳን በደም እንደታተመ በደም የታተመ አዲስ ኪዳን የመመሥረት ሥልጣን ያለው እርሱ ብቻ ስለሆነ ነው። ደሙንም ለእኛ አፈሰሰ። "እውነት እላችኋለሁ፤ በእግዚአብሔር መንግሥት አዲሱን የወይን ፍሬ እስከምጠጣበት እስከዚያች ቀን ድረስ ዳግም ይህን አልጠጣም።” ሲልም ይናገራል፤ ይህም ኢየሱስ ገና በሰማይ የፋሲካን በዓል እንደገና አላከበረም ማለት ነው። አሁንም ሕዝቡ ሁሉ ወደ እርሱ እስኪሰበሰቡ ድረስ ይጠብቃል ከዚያም ታላቅ እራት ይሆናል፤ የበጉ ሰርግ እራት (ራዕይ 19፡9)።

Jesus offers His blood as only He has the authority to establish a new covenant, sealed with blood, even as the old covenant was sealed with blood (Exodus 24:8).

እግዚአብሔር ፍትሃዊ ባይሆን ኖሮ ልጁ እንዲሰቃይና እንዲሞት ባላስፈለገው ነበር። እግዚአብሔር የፍቅር አምላክ ባይሆን ኖሮ ልጁ እንዲሰቃይ እና እንዲሞት ባልፈቀደ ነበር። እግዚአብሔር ግን ፍትሃዊ እና አፍቃሪ ነው። ስለዚህ ፍቅሩ የፍትህ መስፈርትንሁሉ ለማሟላት ፈቃደኛ ሆነ።

ፍቅሩን አናቅልለው። የኃጢአታችንን ክብደትና በእኛ ላይ የነበረውን የቁጣውን ትክክለኛነት እስካልተረዳን ድረስ በእግዚአብሔር ፍቅር እና መወደድ አንገረምም። ነገር ግን በጸጋው ወደ አለመብቃታችን ስንነቃ የክርስቶስን መከራና ሞት ተመልክተን እንዲህ እንላለን: "ፍቅር ይህ ነው፤ እኛ እግዚአብሔርን እንደ ወደድነው ሳይሆን እርሱ እንደ ወደደንና ስለ ኀጢአታችን ማስተስረያ ይሆን ዘንድ ልጁን መላኩ ነው።" (1ኛ ዮሐንስ 4:10)
