The generic Boomer worldview of Gilmore was always hopelessly naïve and doomed to fail. The assumption was that only white racists and Christians would stand in opposition to the dream of the progressive universal man, when it turns out that another group are also claiming a special dispensation, another group they may not criticize — it becomes obsolete.
