For UPPCS prelims:
There are 150 questions in prelims and the cutoff goes around 90 questions(plus minus 5) but one should target 100+ net correct questions so that one can prepare with free mind for mains. As there were a lot of objections in answer key and question paper of prelims in previous years, this creates more uncertainty about the result of prelims. So its better to get a pretty safe score in prelims. Waiting for prelims result and not preparing till then can be disastrous.
Now coming to the sources for prelims.
I did घटनाचक्र पूर्वअवलोकन of History, Science, Geography, Polity and state special. I made one liner short notes from them(15-20 pages per book) to revise them in the end. Revise these notes around 5-6 times atleast.
Also, previous year papers should be solved directly as mock test papers. Many questions are as it is repeated from them.
For current affairs i did ‘Ghatnachakra eye drishti’ magazine. However it is difficult to retain it due to content overload and too much factual information. Multiple revision can help you in memorising this magazine. You can also watch lectures by Nishant sir from ‘PCS अभ्यास’ youtube channel. For practice of current affair related question, i did ‘uppcs one’ telegram channel (@uppcs1) mcq series. The questions asked were of good quality(hope they will maintain the quality of questions this year as well).
I didnt solve many mocks for uppcs prelims. But to adapt yourself in exam like situation you can give mocks as per time permits. Mocks will also help you to avoid silly mistakes and to find out how many questions you should attempt to score maximum marks in prelims.
Also, avoid blind guess in factual questions. ‘Match the following’ type questions or 2 statements questions are of easy nature. They should be done with good accuracy.
Target low hanging fruits like polity, modern history, science current affairs. They will help you fetch around 80-85% of the required score.
Apart from above mentioned sources, standard sources should also be done like laxmikanth, spectrum, nitin singhania etc. I havent read घटनाचक्र पूर्वावलोकन of economics but got a positive review from my friends. So you can follow that also.
