Thus in honor of this month SCORA will post most Ethiopian women and women around the world who are Revolutionary and who can be a role model to us as consistently as we can. Stay tuned!!!!

In celebration of Women's History Month and Adwa Victory Day❤️
Etige or Queen Taytu Betul (c.1851–1918), wife of Negus Negast, Menelik the II.
Etige Taytu is renowned for her leading role in the war against Italy. She opposed deals with Italy at the Treaty of Wuchale, which effectively made Ethiopia an Italian protectorate on paper.
When Menelik and Taytu finally rode into battle against the Italians, Taytu played a crucial role in strategizing and leading her troops to the front and she was able to defeat the Italian forces in Mekelle, by cutting off their water supply.
Ethiopia had had its share of powerful women supporting the armies through cooking, cleaning, and keeping up the morale. It was less common for women to command entire troops as Taytu did. In some artistic depictions of the Battle of Adwa, she is seen in the midst of fierce fighting.
The Ethiopian victory left Ethiopia as the only African country to successfully defend its sovereignty at the height of European imperialism!

What’s next?
Well as you may or may not know, EMSA is a nonprofit association. We do not have a continuous and reliable source of income.
So what do we do?
We find ways to income generate and find sponsors as well as donors.
We have now come up with a first of its kind fundraising and networking event that will be held at our very own school, Hayat Medical College.

Aside from having sympathy and expressing compassion,have you ever thought of a way of helping the women around you who are suffering from the lack of a proper sanitary pad? Girls missing class and sacrificing their education just because they happen to be on their period?
Well here is how the "እኛም እንረዳለን" project aims to provide menstrual hygiene products to girls and women everywhere in Ethiopia. By doing so our young people will now have the resources they need to engage in enjoyable activities and school commitments with confidence and respect every day. We are grateful to the people that are willing to donate as much as they can. In doing so it meets a critical need for our girls and women, who miss a full week of school/work each month and feel ashamed due to lack of resources in our community. Your involvement will enable them gain the abilities they need to overcome challenges in the present and the future.

It was an honor to represent SCORA-HMC and take part in the woman's day conference at Elily International Hotel.
It was a huge opportunity for us to promote our work as SCORA and EMSA in general, we also had a chance to talk and exchange information with different organizations who are interested in future collaborations.
