Long $AMAT / short $MU
tweet
Long $AMAT / short $MU
with some duration, I think that long $AMAT / short $MU works:
- AMAT is ~35-40% exposed DRAM applications with an emphasis on commodity. Stock was heavy on ICAPS rugs, but China is now rightsized. also benefits from leading edge logic which should be strong next year
- the MU commodity cycle is well appreciated + DRAM is driven by CPU strength (for now); SOCAMM a driver in 26 but should mean more equipment
- commodity GMs > HBM GMs for MU which will take up nums but that's not why it should trade on P/E not book (implicit in this is "this time isn't different"); AMAT is discount vs its mult against SPX vs history
- spread is at a 5+ year dislocation that has historically been ho hum back and forth - TBUtweet

JUST IN: Representative Thomas Kean Jr. just disclosed new stock trades.
One of them caught our eye:
An August 4th purchase of stock in Check Point Software, $CHKP.
It's a cybersecurity company that hasn't been traded by Congress in years.
Full trade list up on Quiver.

The Startup Ideas Podcast (SIP) 🧃
RT @gregisenberg: i just watched a guy scrape google maps with an ai agent and show EXACTLY which boring businesses can make you stupid money in your local area
not HVAC or plumbing...the local startup ideas NOBODY talks about
how it works (save this)
1/ a workflow that finds overlooked local niches like garage organizers and irrigation systems through google map's treasure chest of data
2/ an agent that measures demand by tracking review volume and velocity in google maps
3/ a system that turns customer complaints into newsletter content automatically
4/ a workflow hosted on n8n for $7/month that runs nonstop and gets you concurrent workflows so dont hit a ceiling on workflows
5/ a directory that sells leads back to service providers for $100–200 each
6/ a process that scales to $20–30k/month with minimal overhead
@boringmarketer shared every step on @startupideaspod and i thank him for sharing that sauce FOR FREE (people charge $10k+ for this sorta stuff)
cool thing is he started a mobile diesel company in north carolina using this exact process that's making $30k/month so he knows it works
what hit me is how obvious it felt.
of course google maps has the gold
just need AI to shovel it out.

Representative James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, appears to have taken up stock trading.
He has made just 44 trades, but they include some of the most well-timed moves we've seen.
He bought Palantir at the start of this year, up 132% since then.
He also bought SoFi, up +106% since, and Amphenol, up 77%.
Before this year, he had only filed one stock trade: a 2020 sale of Rite Aid stock.
$RAD has fallen 96% since then.

RT @IFB_podcast: Pay attention to what companies stop talking about.
Example: PayPal used to highlight user growth—then suddenly stopped. Analysts noticed, management stumbled, and the stock began to slide.
When key metrics disappear, it’s often a yellow flag. https://t.co/1NRdycIZOo
