BREAKING: The US Consumer Sentiment Index fell 6.2 points to 50.8 in April, the second-lowest on record.
This was only above the 50.0 points recorded in June 2022 when inflation was at 9.1%, the highest since 1981.
This also marks the 4th-consecutive monthly decline for a total of 23.2 points, or 31%.
Current conditions fell 7.3 points, to 56.5, the lowest since June 2022 and the second-lowest in history.
Consumer expectations fell 5.4 points, to 47.2, the second-lowest since May 1980.
Consumer sentiment is at crisis levels.
