I share Raphael's view entirely. The devastating loss of life is difficult to fathom, and the impact on mathematical research adds another layer of profound sadness.

One must realize who is Albert Shiryaev: one of Kolmogorov's most prominent students (together with V.I. Arnold and Ya.B. Sinai) and, today, considered the leader of the Russian school of probability.
His numerous books, on stochastic processes, limit theorems, stopping times, and, last but not least, financial math, shaped an entire field of research.
I was honored to write with him and another giant of probability theory, Marc Yor, an article on the probability distribution of downfalls of Brownian motions.
The recent breakage of the relationships with Russia made our frequent exchanges more difficult. For the sake of mathematical research, I wish that the mathematical community will reunite and not be impacted by political events.

I've been curious whether I've had any influence on the eBay market for old probability books.

latest trading strategy:

if book is shared by @alexbilz , then market buy it

please alex also advise for more complex books, always on probability, written by russian mathematicians https://t.co/1zfyeF1yEX
