Here's the real reason newsletters are getting subscribers from meta ads for $0.50-$1.00 or less:

1. What Matt said, targeting India and Asia

2. Very low ad spend. It's easy to get low CPAs spending $50/day.

3. Incentivizing sign ups with a giveaway.

4. The newsletter is written by a famous person and appeals to a broad audience.

5. The person running the ads is very good. GrowLetter has been able to achieve <$1-$1.50

Whenever someone says "I am getting leads from Meta for my newsletter for $1.00 CPL", I just assume they are buying a bunch of sign-ups from east Asia that will never buy anything.
