Why was Buffett spending all of 2023 buying up $OXY and increasing his stake in the company to 21%?
Because it was the perfect hedge.
Strong Fundamentals, technicals were not correlated with the market, a Geo Politcal hedge in the Middle East and Russia V Ukraine and it is also the leader in the sector on Carbon Capture.
There was nothing difficult about this decision
A simple minimum of 30% was made and also a hedge against the market downside….and they paid a dividend.
We spent the entire year discussing this and have a position.
