RT @emollick: Wish your students learned more in your class? Get them to THINK they did by giving them cookies!

In an experiment, 50% of classes with the same teachers & content got cookies the last class. Teaching scores for the 🍪classes were higher & they reported they learned 20% more 🤷 https://t.co/bWgkrbPtBQ

Ruh Roh: $RIVN "Rivian Automotive Inc. is planning hundreds of layoffs to trim its workforce in areas where the EV maker has grown too quickly."

The co is pulling back after roughly doubling its headcount over the past year to support a ramp-up in production. Big surprise!

Joining a nonprofit reduces pay by 5.5% compared to a for-profit, and about 80% of that comes from the fact that nonprofits attract different workers who would not have been paid as much while 20% is the “cost” of being at a nonprofit. “Commercial” nonprofits have lower penalties https://t.co/X7Na1mLifq

RT @DavidKButlerUoA: This from @emollick is the first time I have realised that cold-calling might be about asking students to participate, as opposed to answer a closed gotcha question. Why does nobody lead with this point when they talk about it? https://t.co/WQEnhz4nWd
When you cold call, you want to support, not embarrass. It need not be a quiz. You can ask open-ended questions or opinions on previous comments. The goal is to integrate the cold calls into discussion. You can also “warm call” & give people a heads-up that you’ll call them next. - Ethan Mollick
