The millennia-long echoes of vanished roads shape our world today:
🏔️Areas near the Inca Road have greater well-being & income
🐫Areas near the old Silk Roads have higher development, trade & ethic group intermarriage
🛣️Roman roads explain economic development patterns in Europe https://t.co/9rAC7jshn3

"This is the ultimate trapdoor; to become a prisoner of one's own persona. The desire for recognition lures us to be who strangers wish us to be. With personal development so arduous and lonely, there is ease and comfort in crowdsourcing your identity." @G_S_Bhogal

One reason investors are more willing to express unconventional opinions than people running other businesses is that they don't mind alienating fools. A cookie company boycotted by fools would lose a lot of money. Whereas a VC boycotted by fools would be better off.

I post a lot of social science articles, and most people don’t click the links - maybe because academic papers can seem daunting.

So here is a useful guide explaining the parts of a social science paper & where to look depending on what you want to learn: https://t.co/qbanvHbjnk https://t.co/YlGLfY78uX

RT @nicholasp66: @mastersinvest Tell me. How can I be a learner?”

My mind went absolutely blank, and I heard myself saying, “It’s simple. To be a learner, you’ve got to be willing to be a fool.”

Now she’s creating a platform to empower others to do the same.

Unfortunately, research shows everyone should probably end their price in a series of 9s. Despite knowing better we mostly pay attention to the leftmost digit. The trick even works for things that don’t usually end in 99 - like house prices or Substack subscriptions. https://t.co/zb902VUwRC
There are tons of other markets where this works, including digital subscriptions (make your Substack subscription end in .99!) and even housing prices. https://t.co/VeBClcB5vY - Ethan Mollick
