One reason $V remains one of Chris Hohn’s largest holdings is its network effect — something that’s very difficult to replicate at scale.

As Hohn explains:

“Payments is one where we’ve been shareholders of Visa a long time… it has this huge, ever-growing network connecting every customer and every bank globally. As the network grows, it becomes increasingly difficult to replicate.”
___

𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬: 𝘢 𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵 𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘦, 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦.

Visa isn’t just a payments rail — it’s a global data, trust, and connectivity network built over decades. Every transaction strengthens fraud detection, authorization accuracy, and value-added services, while raising switching costs for banks and merchants.

That scale is the moat. To replicate it, you’d need billions of cards, global merchant acceptance, regulatory trust, and many years of transaction history — not just better software.
___

It helps explain why $V now represents 15%+ of TCI after Hohn increased his stake ~47% in Q3 2025.

Today both $V (4.10% NTM FCF yield) and $MA (3.71% NTM FCF Yield) trade near the higher end of their historical forward FCF Yield valuation.

Network effects like these compound quietly — but consistently — over time.

Option 3. Bought Seikoh Giken more than 2.5x up in 6 months and it’s still gonna double.

You buy a stock already up 100% in 6 months and it doubles.

versus

You buy a stock down 50% in 6 months and it doubles.

In which scenario are you more satisfied with yourself?

UBS’s TPU report — what surprised me:

1. In the TPU v8 generation, MediaTek’s ASIC service fee per TPU chip is less than half of Broadcom’s.

2. Google appears satisfied with MediaTek’s 224G SerDes IP quality, even though it still doesn’t fully match Broadcom’s.

3. Not only MediaTek’s TPU v9X, but also Broadcom’s TPU v9AX could adopt Intel’s EMIB solution.

4. Ibiden is entering Google TPU substrate business in a meaningful way.

5. Google TPU is expected to skip HBM4 and move directly to HBM4E.

RT @omarsar0: one of my favorite ways to use claude code skills right now - combining remotion with claude-in-chrome for motion video creation.

the workflow is addictive.

the clip you see here was produced with minimal prompting effort

let me know if you would like me to write a full break down of this process.

you describe to claude code what you want, claude code writes the remotion components, opens the remotion studio (via browser) with claude-in-chrome, sees the actual rendered output, and iterates on it in real time.

need the arrows pointing to the center of the bubbles instead of the edge? just say it. need the layout shifted to the center? say it. claude sees the preview, adjusts the code, re-renders.

then when you're happy you tell claude code to render the final video.

but skills are what make this possible. remotion knowledge + browser automation + the taste to iterate visually. no copy pasting screenshots back and forth. no "can you try moving it 10px to the right" over chat. it just looks and fixes.

this is the kind of workflow that makes you realize how much further claude code can go beyond just writing code in a terminal.

i didn't touch any code while working on the clip you see

if you haven't tried combining skills together like this - start experimenting. the skills combos is where the magic is at.
