RT @ToffCap: Lots of action over at Empresaria $EMR.
A large shareholder owning >5% has been pushing for a big clean up of the board.
At the same time, the company is waiting for a 'firm intention' from Legacy UK for its 62p p/s offer (c. +60% vs the current price).
~4x ev/ebitda on arguably depressed earnings. Crappy liquidity though.
And a ton of Dutch investors on the register it seems 🤔

Some thoughts on $DUOL: can they change human behavior at scale?
Before diving in, first things first: pressure on $DUOL stock continues with $AAPL showcasing their AirPods Pro 3 to do live translations today. But this is where I think some are missing an important point.
Translation and real-life conversations are two very different things. If you want genuine human connection, the spoken word is the way to go. Not ChatGPT or AirPods translating stuff for you without being able to actually talk back.
Then there is genuine interest in learning a language (or math, music, chess). Combine the urge for human connection with genuine interest in languages or learning new stuff in general, and there you have it: the $DUOL audience.
But there is an important challenge that $DUOL has to tackle: learning costs energy, discipline, and focus. Whereas other consumer-facing services like $SPOT and $NFLX ease your mind and bring entertainment. So what does $DUOL do to lower that barrier?
10 behavioral tricks
$DUOL basically took gamification and behavioral science to another level:
1 - Daily streaks:
Builds daily habit & fear of loss
2 - XP & leaderboards:
Fuels competition & visible progress
3 - Reminders (Duo Owl):
Timely nudges boost re-engagement
4 - Spaced repetition:
Reinforces memory & long-term learning
5 - Energy system:
Encourages accuracy, discourages guessing
6 - Badges & achievements:
Rewards milestones, boosts motivation
7 - Micro-lessons:
Low barrier to entry, keeps users coming back
8 - Character & story mode:
Adds emotional and narrative pull
9 - Friend streaks:
Adds social accountability
10 - Skill tree progression:
Provides structure and clear goals
Applying behavioral science to learning and incorporating gamification are key ingredients for $DUOL success. Users are nudged in every way possible to keep coming back.
So can $DUOL change human behavior at scale? I believe they do not change it, but influence it. Striking just the right balance between fun, focus and psychological nudges.
An important effect of targeting the right audience and combining gamification with behavioral science is that it builds loyalty over the long term.
It’s this loyalty that I see as a key differentiator compared to $NFLX or $SPOT. While $DUOL total addressable audience is likely smaller, it’s a highly engaged, committed, and loyal base that can drive long-term growth as the platform expands into new categories.
My two cents, Owl out. 👋🦉

I know you've never heard this super unique insight before, but I do think this is the first point in $AAPL modern life that there is a legit chance they get disrupted by AI-first phones over the coming years (which is clearly $GOOG plan).
Not likely, but not 0%
