The number of Americans working more than one job has never been higher:
Multiple job holders hit a record 8.86 million in February.
As a share of employment, multiple jobholders rose to 5.4%, the highest in 16 years.
Concerningly, Americans holding a primary full-time and a secondary part-time job spiked 395,000 in February, to a record 5.37 million.
This reflects 3.3% of total employment, the highest percentage since 1999.
All while part-time workers for economic reasons jumped 460,000 last month, to 4.94 million, the highest since May 2021.
Millions of Americans are working multiple jobs to afford basic necessities.
