They also publish logs of these denials, which can give clues on where there could be active investigations.
Here are some FOIA requests that the SEC rejected due to the B7(a) exemption in August:
- Request for “any information or investigations related to AMC Entertainment Holdings (ticker : AMC) this year.”
- Request for “any communications with representatives of Coinbase Global, Inc”
- Request for info on the hack of the SEC’s X account
- Request for records related to investigations conducted by the SEC on Southwest Airlines
- Request for “any information regarding MMTLP being created and starting to trade on the OTC”
