Is Estée Lauder $EL CEO Fabrizio Freda trolling critics?
When discussing his retirement on the FY24 earnings call, he included this phrase:
"I have been deeply enriched ..."
Freda, of course, regularly led "most overpaid CEO" reports in recent years, even as EL shares dived https://t.co/tGGhLejKav

Boycotts are generally ineffective at influencing stock prices. Even long-standing boycotts of major corporations like Coca-Cola $KO and McDonald's $MCD have had minimal impact, with both companies close to an all-time high.
Every single day, I see more and more people talking about boycotting companies like Nike $NKE, PepsiCo $PEP, and Starbucks $SBUX. Just remember, rich people and funds don't care about this and never will; they only care about money

Do you think the refresh cycle will come through for $AAPL?
I'm not so optimistic but they have a history of stagnating before a massive explosion in revenues 🤔
What do you think? 👇 https://t.co/fZ3OUXWqeh

An interesting article in @WSJ on FC Chelsea under the new owners:
In 2022, Chelsea FC was bought for a record 4.3 billion pounds, or $5.5 billion, by a group of American investors.
They have since forked out almost $1 billion in net transfer fees.
Chelsea has made many smaller bets on players with great potential.
Chelsea has remained a net buyer since, building up a roster more reminiscent of the early stage of a talent show than a typical soccer team.

“We’ll continue to invest in R&D and AI capex to ensure the growth of our AI-driven cloud business. It’s simply because we see a lot of unmet demand from many clients.”
“What we see when we’re making these kind of capex investments, as soon as we get a server up, that server is essentially instantly running at full capacity. We can expect to see a very high ROI over these next quarters.”
- Eddie Wu, CEO of Alibaba
“Alibaba is buying processors to train its Tongyi series of AI models and rent out computing power to others. The Chinese tech giant’s capex in the first half totalled Rmb23bn, up 123% from a year earlier.”
“Sales for the group’s cloud business accelerated during the second quarter, rising 6% from a year earlier. Alibaba said AI related product revenues had more than doubled year on year.”
