Yellowbrick Investing
One big disconnect I regularly see is a mismatch of strategy and portfolio.

If you are a value investor with a portfolio of 10 value stocks with no imminent catalyst, don't be surprised when your entire portfolio is a value trap.

If you decide to invest in one or two random special situations here or there, don't be surprised when none of them work.

If you want net-net exposure and decide to add 5 Japanese net-nets at 2% each, don't be surprised when that 10% of your portfolio underperforms massively.

Some strategies require wide exposure across a ton of stocks, geographies, and industries. Some require very concentrated exposure. And most idiosyncratic "stock-picking" portfolios require something in between.
