David Friedberg Destroys the House Spending Bill: "Americans should be ashamed."
"If you are an American, you should feel shame that your elected officials are proposing that this is the bill that gets passed."
"Absolute disgraziad."
"That we vaporize this much money, that we put ourselves this much further in debt, that we do not treat the situation as the fiscal emergency that it is."
" We are now burning an additional $2.5T a year adding to our debt load."
"We are in a fiscal crisis and we're not willing to admit it."
" And I've said this from day one that DOGE can only do so much. And clearly that's the case where they're now talking about sub $300B a year in potential annual savings from DOGE action."
" At the end of the day, Congress needs to take action and this bill from Congress doesn't take much action."
During our 2025 Predictions Show in early January, Friedberg created a market on whether the US national debt would exceed $38T in 2025.
According to Polymarket, there is now an 80% chance that the debt WILL exceed $38T this year.

Chamath: America Must Monetize its Assets to Avoid Becoming a "Second and Third Tier Country" 🇺🇸
"We are talking about a potential debt spiral on the one hand, we're talking about cutting entitlements on the other, and people wanna run around and basically say, 'Don't do anything.'"
"Well, 'don't do anything' is not an option."
"So yeah, monetize the assets."
"You may not like the way that Trump says it when he says 'Drill, baby, drill,' but the actual outcome is the same."
"We need to monetize."
"We need to generate revenue in the United States as quickly as possible."
"We need to do the things that maintain technical supremacy."
"We need to do the things that maintain political supremacy."
"If we don't, we will be a second and third tier country."
"Why does anybody in America want that?"
"If you're an American citizen that wants that, go to another country."

Someone check up on @DivesTech and @munster_gene , they've been telling us about Apple AI-driven supercycle (without any fundamental checks to back it up).
BBG:
“This is a crisis,” says a senior member of Apple’s AI team. A different team member compares the effort to a foundering ship: “It’s been sinking for a long time.” According to internal data described to Bloomberg Businessweek, the company’s technology remains years behind the competition’s."

JAPAN WON’T RUSH U.S. TRADE DEAL, ISHIBA SAYS
Japan’s 🇯🇵 PM Shigeru Ishiba says Tokyo won’t compromise national interests just to meet time limits in trade talks with the U.S., stressing Japan won’t accept a deal that skips the 25% car tariff. “We will not follow other countries simply because they are moving forward,” he said.
Talks continue this week as Japan pushes for full tariff exemptions, even with a 24% across-the-board levy set to return in July.

Raymond James sees some upside for $NVDA this quarter but expects limited sequential growth in Jul-25Q due to the ~$4B hit from the H20 export restriction. Consensus is calling for ~$3B growth to $46B, which they say may be too high.
Still, they expect Nvidia to sound bullish on 2H, citing strong hyperscale capex, relaxed AI export rules, and growing demand from the Middle East, which could carry Blackwell momentum into 2026. Gross margin remains in focus—management is expected to reaffirm its mid-70% target by end of CY25.

China has started approving limited rare earth exports under its new control regime, but the slow pace is straining global supply chains, FT reports. Industry voices say delays are “untenable,” and approvals aren’t keeping up with demand, especially for key sectors like EVs, wind power, and defense.

China has slapped anti-dumping tariffs as high as 74.9% on POM copolymers from the U.S., EU, Japan, and Taiwan, wrapping up a probe launched in May 2024—right after the U.S. hiked tariffs on Chinese EVs and chips.
These plastics are used in cars, electronics, and medical gear, can replace metals like copper and zinc. U.S. imports face the steepest duty at 74.9%, while Japan and the EU get hit with around 35%. Taiwan’s rates vary, with Formosa Plastics at just 4%.

RYANAIR SEES STRONG SUMMER DEMAND DESPITE PROFIT DIP
Ryanair posted a FY profit of €1.61B, down 16% from last year, as fares fell and costs climbed—though results still matched estimates. Revenue rose 4% to €13.95B, with passenger numbers up 9%, but average fares were down 7%.
CEO Michael O’Leary said summer bookings are solid and pricing is slightly ahead of last year. Q1 fares are trending up mid-to-high teens, helped by a full Easter. He noted “a reluctance to go transatlantic,” as Europeans are choosing to stay closer to home.
Ryanair reaffirmed its FY26 target of 206M passengers and approved a €750M share buyback.
