BREAKING: The share of NYSE stocks trading above their 200-day moving average has dropped to 41%, the lowest since November 2023.
This percentage has dropped ~20 points over the last few weeks.
At the same time, the share of the S&P 500 stocks above their 200-day moving average fell to 52%, near the lowest since November 2023.
As a result, the S&P 500 index declined below its 200-day average for the first time since October 2023.
The market selloff has been broad-based.

BREAKING: The US Pending Home Sales Index dropped -4.6% in January from the prior month, to 70.6, the lowest reading on record.
Contract signings, a leading indicator for housing, have declined -44% over the last 3 years, posting its largest drawdown in history.
Pending home sales fell -9.2% in the South, the biggest home-selling region in the US, marking the largest decline since 2020.
Meanwhile, 1 in 7 contract signings were canceled in January, the highest share on record for this time of year, according to Redfin.
Extremely high housing costs and economic uncertainty are behind recent market weakness.
Home-buying conditions have rarely been worse.
