RT @ArthurMacwaters: People are quick to say "oh yeah but X just hired great people, they're the talented ones"
Sure. It's a team effort.
But these companies simply would not exist, and would not rise to world-changing dominance, without the will and skill of great founders.
You can have a nuanced take and still respect the incredible things Jobs and Elon and others have to do.

Peter Thiel: “Steve Jobs probably gets too little credit”
When asked if Steve Jobs gets too much credit for the success of Apple, Thiel responds:
“There are probably ways in which he gets too little credit… The founders of these companies are not divine beings - they’re not omnipotent, omniscient, or anything like that… But I think the importance of a charismatic leader who can bring out the best in people in something that is very underestimated.”
Thiel named his venture fund Founders Fund to emphasize this idea:
“We think that these tech companies do best when they’re led by founders…. We’re much more skeptical of the tech companies that are not founder-led. I think it’s weirdly understated as a problem… [Being founder-led is] the first approximation that would tell you which [companies] you can expect to innovate in the future and which ones won’t.” - Startup Archivetweet

Indian budget was a shift from capex increase to an attempt to boost consumption.
Few ADRs to watch on Monday. MMYT (should gain as tourism stocks rallied), and financials HDB, IBN.
Shares of hotels and tourism companies like Indian Hotels and ITC Hotels surged up to 10% in the special Budget session on Saturday as Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled a slew of measures aimed to boost the tourism sector in the Union Budget 2025 speech.
FM Sitharaman has just changed the prescription for economic growth to rely more on boosting consumption in a slowing economy rather than firing the capex engine with another double-digit hike. The impact of the shift was clearly visible on the stock market where beaten-down stocks from the consumption space suddenly became investor favourite while the capex stocks were left reeling in losses. - AkhenOsiristweet

President Trump is poised to nominate a leading critic of Big Tech to the top legal position at a key agency that could target Google, Meta, and their rivals.
Adam Candeub, an architect of a late effort in Trump’s first term to revoke legal protections for social media, will be nominated as general counsel of the Federal Communications Commission, its chairman, Brendan Carr, confirmed in an email to Semafor.
“Adam is a rare talent — he has fought fearlessly against Big Tech censorship and has had a successful career both as an effective telecom litigator and academic,” Carr said. “He will be an indispensable asset both to me and the FCC as we deliver great results for the American people.”
