Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to you to seek your help in identifying potential graduate students for the Fall 2002 or Spring 2023. The Chemistry Department at Saint Louis University is experiencing some changes that bring positive growth and excitement about the future of our department. We have a new $50 million, 90 k square foot, 3-story STEM building that opened in the fall of 2020 and our new Chemical Biology program attracts many students. Research in the Chemistry Department continues to grow, and our research faculty have recently been awarded federal research funding exceeding $7.8 million. After a national search this past year we hired several outstanding junior and senior faculty members, further expanding the research capabilities of our department.   
All of these put our department in the position of needing to recruit more graduate students for the fall 2022 semester. Although the application deadline was January 15th, and we have managed to fill all of our initial openings, we were recently encouraged to make further admits. As a result, we are still accepting applications for openings with fully funded assistantships starting in July 2022. We anticipate that we will also have further openings for our January 2023 start date.
If you have graduating Chemistry majors or recent alumni that are considering graduate school, we hope you will let them know about this opportunity. Graduate students are a huge part of what has made our department successful. Whether master’s or doctoral candidates, we hold our graduate students to a high standard and they rise to the challenge. SLU’s Jesuit Mission calls us to serve as men and women for others, and we emphasize our commitment to students and the wider community.
