DAY 5 OF 28 DAYS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE πŸ”₯

WHY IS ONLY WHEN YOUR EXAM IS CLOSE...YOU BECOME SUPER MOTIVATED TO STUDY πŸ’”πŸ˜

Have you ever noticed how motivation kicks in when an exam is just around the corner? You suddenly become a study machine, fueled by caffeine and determination. But why does this happen, and how can you harness this energy to stay motivated throughout your studies?

The answer lies in the psychology of deadlines. When a deadline is looming, your brain releases stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, which increase your focus and productivity. This is known as the "fight or flight" response, where your body prepares to tackle the challenge head-on.

*_According to Parkinson's Law, "work expands to fill the time available for its completion." In other words, if you give yourself too much time to complete a task, you'll procrastinate and waste time. But if you set a tight deadline, you'll work more efficiently and effectively._*

*The problem is that many students rely solely on external deadlines, like exam dates, to motivate them. This can lead to a feast-or-famine approach to studying, where you're either cramming the night before or doing nothing at all.*

*
*_To break this cycle, set personal deadlines for yourself. Break down your study material into manageable chunks, and give yourself a specific timeframe to complete each task. Tell friends, family, or classmates about your goals, and ask them to hold you accountable._*

*For example, say you're struggling with anatomy. Set a goal to finish a certain chapter or topic within the next three days. Write it down, post it on your social media, and set reminders on your phone. This will create a sense of urgency and motivate you to stay on track.*

*The Science Behind It*```

*_When you set a deadline, it activates your brain's reward system, releasing dopamine and stimulating motivation. This is because your brain associates the deadline with a sense of accomplishment and relief._*

Additionally, research has shown that setting specific, challenging goals can increase motivation and performance. This is known as the "goal-setting theory" of motivation.

How to Make It Work

1. Be specific
2. Make it public
3. Set reminders
4. Reward yourself
5. Be consistent

Don't wait until the exam is around the corner to start studying. Set personal deadlines, and you'll be amazed at how much more motivated and productive you become. Take control of your studies today, and ace those exams!

⚑DO YOU KNOW:
Giraffes are 30 times more likely to get hit by lightning than people. True, there are only five well-documented fatal lightning strikes on giraffes between 1996 and 2010. But due to the population of the species being just 140,000 during this time, it makes for about 0.003 lightning deaths per thousand giraffes each year. This is 30 times the equivalent fatality rate for humans.
*"WHAT IS YOUR NAME???"*

*_A student once asked me, "Sir, my problem is I forget what I read. I easily forget what I read." I asked her, "What's your name?" She told me her name. I said, "Do you forget your name?" She said, "No." I asked, "How old are you?" She told me her age. I said, "Do you forget your age?" She said, "Ah, no, sir." I said, "Why can't you forget your age, but you forget what you read?"_*

*She said, "Sir, it's not the same thing." I replied, "Let's break it down. Your name and age were once random pieces of information to you, just like the material you're trying to remember. But you've repeated them so many times that they've become ingrained in your memory. The reason you forget what you read is that it doesn't come back to your mind often enough."*

*_Think about it: can you remember the color of your classroom? Only a few people can. Why? Because you stop seeing it, and your brain discards it as unnecessary information._*

*The secret to remembering what you read IS REPETITION Go back to your materials continuously, and don't stop visiting them until you've mastered the content. As one of my tutors, Chisom says, "Read three times, and you're getting close to mastery." Don't make the mistake of learning something once and leaving it alone. Your brain needs repetition to solidify the information.*

> According to psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus, the forgetting curve shows that our brains forget up to 70% of new information within 24 hours if we don't review it (Ebbinghaus, 1885). However, repetition can help solidify information in our long-term memory.

*_Our brain's primary function is to forget unnecessary information to make room for new data (Squire, 1992). If we don't reinforce what we've learned, our brain will discard it as useless._*

_DAY 6 OF THE 28 DAYS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE πŸ“Œ_
πŸ‘1
🌍We will gain 77 minutes of daylight over the next 28 days

As the Northern Hemisphere tilts further toward the Sun, the days are officially beginning to get longer again
"Day 7 of 28 Days to Change Your Life

The solution to your problem was given to you months ago, but you just didn't realize it. πŸ€” Many of you buy materials, textbooks, but you never use them. Lack of usage, lack of visualization - that's not measuring up!
πŸ’”

The thing you need to hear to change your life, you heard it 10 years ago or 5 years ago... you just didn't listen. πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ Let's talk about listening. Listening doesn't mean you just heard; it means you heard, processed, and applied

If you didn't apply what someone told you, it means you didn't really hear them. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ If your dad sends you to get something and you don't go, it means you didn't hear him. πŸ˜‚

Learn to listen! Some advice people give you, don't just hear it... apply it! πŸ‘Š Many messages say the same thing, but people keep looking for the next person, next mentor... Learn to apply what you've heard!

The next thing that motivates you, listen to it, don't just hear it... apply it! πŸ’ͺ

Listen and apply 😊

Identical twins don’t have the same fingerprints. You can’t blame your crimes on your twin, after all. This is because environmental factors during development in the womb (umbilical cord length, position in the womb, and the rate of finger growth) affect your fingerprint.

DAY 9 OF 28 DAYS TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE

The Power of Discipline: Part 1

Discipline is often perceived as a daunting task, but it's actually a simple concept: doing something consistently over time. When I first learned about discipline, I wondered if I'd ever be able to achieve it. The idea seemed overwhelming, like a goal that everyone strives for but few attain
.

However, discipline is not an unattainable goal; it's a skill that can be developed. Many people struggle with discipline because they set unrealistic expectations and try to change too much too soon. They write out a schedule of the most perfect person in the world and expect to be disciplined immediately

To develop discipline, start small. Identify one area of your life where you'd like to improve and focus on building tiny, achievable habits. For example, commit to sleeping early, posting a motivational quote on your status every day, or reading one page of a book before bed. These small disciplines will build your confidence and create a sense of accomplishment.

The key is to make your discipline so simple that your brain sees it as almost nothing. Whether it's writing out ten things you learned from the day, keeping a journal, or drinking three glasses of water a day, these tiny habits will add up over time.

*Research shows that our brain releases dopamine when we achieve small wins, which motivates us to take on bigger challenges (Kringelbach & Berridge, 2010). As you become consistent with your small disciplines, you'll start to feel more confident and capable, and this will spill over into other areas of your life.*

The problem with many of us is that we start too big and too hard. We try to read three hours a day without first mastering ten minutes. Start with something small, and be consistent. Over time, you'll become the disciplined person you want to be

Action Step ✊🏾: Identify one small discipline you'd like to start with, and commit to it for the next week. Write it down, and track your progress.

*The Power of Discipline: Part 2*

So many people are confused about discipline. Let me tell you, discipline is not perfect. Many people have this misconception that discipline is perfect, but Discipline is not perfect. You will fail first. In fact, many of you start trying at discipline and you get discouraged.

You will definitely fail at some point.
You will lose.
You will feel discouraged. You will feel bad.
You will have your bad days.
You will have your good days.
In fact, sometimes your bad days will be more than your good days.
You start and stop and start again and stop and start and feel like, 'Okay, discipline is not for me.'...

*BUT LIKE I SAID IN PART ONE, THE KEY IS CONSISTENCY* .

πŸ“Œ *Consistency, yes, that's the key.*

*_So, part two of this, I want you to remember that it is not... discipline is not about chunks of motivation or hard work. It is about small, consistent efforts. And remember, you will fail. You will... you don't need to have everything in place to start._*
Start scared.
Start discouraged.
*Start BADLY BUT START*

... the first thing is to start```

*When you practice your discipline and you stop. You start, you stop. You start. Then you have issues. You feel like discipline is not for you, and stuff like that. Understand that discipline is not a one-time thing. Discipline is not a perfect journey. It's not a sprint; it's a marathon. And discipline is not chunks of motivation, chunks of hard work every day. Discipline is a process, an imperfect process that takes time. As long as you are consistent, you will get there.*

Best regards,

Read more books.

Not because it’s productive.
not because it’s aesthetic.
but because it rewires your brain.

Every good book upgrades your mental firmware.
you start seeing patterns others miss.
you start connecting disciplines.
you start thinking.

Books are the ultimate leverage.
cheap to get.
infinite in return.

Read more books; that’s how you actually get smart.

*WHEN A GOOD FRIEND BECOMES A DISTRACTION*

*_Few years back, I noticed something about myself. I read best when I'm around somebody I'm not too familiar with. Many of you have reading partners who are like your best friends, and that's okay._*

But a good friend can also become a distraction.
*I started doing something when I was preparing for a major exam last year. Every time I wanted to read seriously, I'd isolate myself. People might think I'm hiding to read, but for me, it's about minimizing distractions from my "good friends".*

_*When you become too familiar with your study partner, what happens? Instead of focusing on reading, you start gisting, having fun, and talking. Before you know it, you've wasted the whole time you set aside to read.*_

*Good friends can become distractions if you don't set boundaries and discipline yourself. I had a friend I used to go to night class with. At first, we were both focused on reading, but over time, we started talking more and getting closer. Eventually, we couldn't go to class without chatting for hours. He became a distraction, so I stopped reading with him. We stopped going to night class together, and I temporarily cut him off.*

*_The point is, don't let a good friend become a distraction. If a friendship is affecting your academics or goals, it's time to reevaluate. This applies to relationships too - romantic or otherwise. If someone's becoming more of a distraction than a support, take note._*

*Learn to recognize when a friendship is becoming a hindrance, and take steps to address it. Set boundaries, prioritize your goals, and don't be afraid to make changes.*

Best regards,

El-David`

_"If you can't explain it to a six-year-old, you don't understand it yourself."_

These powerful words from Albert Einstein remind us that true knowledge is not about sounding intelligent, but about being clear. Real understanding reveals itself through simplicity, the ability to break down even the most complex ideas into plain, honest language.

When we rely on complicated words or explanations, we may be hiding confusion rather than wisdom. Einstein's insight challenges us to learn deeply, think clearly, and communicate in a way that anyone can understand.
*WHO WAS ALBERT EINSTEIN?*
Albert Einstein was one of the most influential scientists in human history. Born in 1879 in Germany, he transformed our understanding of space, time, energy, and matter. He is best known for developing the theory of relativity, which revealed a deep and revolutionary understanding of the relationship between mass and energy.
Beyond his scientific genius, Einstein was also a philosopher at heart, curious, humble, sceptical of authority, and deeply concerned with humanity, ethics, and education.

*EXPLAINING THE QUOTE* :
At first glance, this quote seems simple, but it carries a powerful message.

Einstein is saying that true understanding is proven through simplicity. If you really grasp an idea, you should be able to strip it down to its essence and explain it clearly, without jargon or complexity. If you can't, then your knowledge may be superficial, memorised, or incomplete.
This doesn't mean that complex ideas are "easy." Rather, it means that clarity is the final test of mastery.

*WHAT DOES THIS QUOTE REVEAL ABOUT EINSTEIN'S THINKING?*
This quote captures several core principles that shaped Albert Einstein's philosophy of learning and understanding. At its heart is the belief that depth matters more than display.

Einstein distrusted intellectual showmanship and felt that overly complex language often hides confusion rather than knowledge. A simple explanation, on the other hand, is proof of genuine insight.

It also highlights the idea of learning through teaching. When you try to explain something to a child, you are forced to confront the gaps in your own understanding. Teaching strips ideas down to their essentials, revealing what you truly know and what you only think you know.

The quote further shows Einstein's respect for curiosity, especially the kind children naturally possess. Children ask direct, fundamental questions, and answering them requires returning to first principles, the foundation where real understanding lives.

Finally, it reflects simplicity as a scientific ideal. Einstein believed that nature is elegant at its core, and the best theories mirror that elegance. In his view, both great science and great explanations should be clear, simple, and honest.
