Be a Quantum Physics Influencer
Unique Opportunity in Science Communication Using Social Media & Filmmaking
The STAGE Lab (University of Chicago) has the opportunity to host a Visiting Student (VS) or Non-degree Visiting Student (NDVS) full-time, for one-year (potentially extendable to two years). This opportunity includes a stipend, full tuition*, and fees.
Responsibilities include finding new ways and unique methods to reach and attract untapped talent pools, such as underrepresented minorities and HBCUs, to professional pathways/careers in QISE. The student will use the arts and other creative tools (e.g., social media and filmmaking) to:
Disseminate information about QISE and career opportunities in QISE to a broad national audience, especially to those who may not have been exposed to such opportunities in the past.
Record and disseminate testimonials from underrepresented people about their enthusiasm for and success in QISE.
Create bi-weekly content and incorporate feedback from the “audience” to create new content.
Communicate QISE concepts to a broad and diverse audience in inventive ways.
Evaluate students’ ability to demonstrate an understanding of professional pathways in QISE.
Contribute and execute artistic components of this new quantum information science (QIS) curriculum.
Evaluate the success of the curriculum, the effectiveness of teaching methods, and students’ comprehension of what is taught.
Develop and execute their role and all it entails from beginning to end.
This opportunity requires someone who can think outside of the box and be a “quantum influencer,” one who gets the word out about QISE to untapped talent pools that otherwise might not be reached, and whose creative efforts generate excitement in such communities about the possibilities of a future in the quantum workforce.
Familiarity with and/or a strong personal interest in quantum physics, filmmaking, social media, marketing and distribution, and related skills is preferred. Experience working with untapped talent pools and/or STEM education is valuable.
Those interested in this opportunity should send a CV and cover letter to the STAGE Lab (stagelab@uchicago.edu). Applications are due by July 15, 2022, and will be considered on a case-by-case basis after that date. As a general rule, therefore, applications should be submitted as early as possible.

The Voices for Vaccines Project team at DCU are delighted to invite you to our Launch event on Friday 15th July at 11:30am CEST.
A Co-created Accessible Website to Combat Vaccine Misinformation & Disinformation
------------------------------------------------------------
This live webinar will launch health campaign materials that were co-created with community partners and parents, to distinguish evidence-based scientific information from mere opinions and disinformation.
The Science Foundation Ireland's Discover Programme funded project, 'Voices for Vaccines' is an exciting, innovative, and seminal project that worked directly with diverse community partners to inspire confidence in the science behind vaccines and counteract vaccine misinformation and disinformation.
In collaboration with parents, and primary caregivers, early learning outreach workers and early learning educators, the Voices for Vaccines project has developed health campaign materials to assist people in distinguishing evidence-based scientific information from misinformation and disinformation. This project has developed and co-created health messaging that has been translated into campaign materials (infographics, videos and information leaflets). These use the diverse voices of parents, early learning educators and outreach workers to counteract disinformation and promote vaccine uptake among peers. The messages counter common myths and promote recognition of evidence-based vaccine information. They have been developed into a user friendly and accessible website and accompanying health materials.
