π¨οΈβMicrosoftβ Pop-Up Alert? Do not panic!
Scammers used fake Microsoft pop-up alerts to trick victims into calling a "technical support" number.
After calling the number, victims were transferred to a fake "police officer" who allege them of being involved in criminal activities and request for access to their device(s).
Having gained access, scammers would make unauthorised transactions from victims' bank accounts.
*Protect yourself:*
β Never call numbers shown in a pop-up alert.
β Always verify alerts through your software providerβs official channels.
