When you have a lot of energy, passion, and excitement, your instinct is to give it freely. You want to try things, explore ideas, and bring others along with you. Some people don’t meet your energy, some don’t know how to hold it, and some simply take without giving anything back.

This is where the meaning of “fire survives because it knows when to burn, and light lasts because it chooses when to be seen” really lands. It’s not about becoming less passionate or losing your spark. It’s about learning discernment. There are moments when your energy creates momentum, opens doors, and lifts everyone around you. And there are moments when giving more only drains you, leaves you misunderstood, or unappreciated.

Choosing not to show up fully in those moments isn’t giving up. It’s protecting yourself. It’s knowing that your excitement is valuable and not infinite. Fire that burns everywhere eventually destroys itself, and light shown to people who refuse to see only blinds them. Growth is learning when to light up, when to pause, and when to walk away with your energy intact.
