I found some interesting technical proof regarding my aluminum exhaust project. Check out this article from Motocross Action Magazine. It turns out this "unusual" choice has a real racing history.

History: In 1974, Husqvarna used aluminum pipes, and in 1999 Pro Circuit tried to bring them back to the market.

Weight: An aluminum pipe can save about 1.3 kg (3 lbs) compared to a steel one.

Durability: To be as strong as steel, aluminum needs a wall thickness of about 2.3 mm. My choice of 2.5 mm is spot on for a solid and reliable build.

Temperature: 2-stroke exhaust gases don't reach aluminum's melting point (650Β°C), making it a perfectly viable material.

It didn't become mainstream mainly due to high production costs, but for a custom project, it's an excellent engineering solution.
