The Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940
▪️Before: Failure to disclose place of manufacture/storage (Ayurvedic, Siddha, Unani drugs) led to imprisonment up to 6 months and fine
✅ Now: Fine only, starting from ₹30,000. No imprisonment for non-disclosure
Handlooms (Reservation of Articles for Production) Act, 1985
▪️Before: Producing reserved handloom articles led to imprisonment up to 6 months and fine up to ₹5,000 per loom
✅Now: Imprisonment reduced to 3 months; fine enhanced to ₹10,000–₹25,000 per loom
Tea Act, 1953
▪️Before: False returns or failure to furnish returns attracted a fine up to ₹1,000
