Murder of women - which IDF has plenty of - has a wild effect on male psyche. You can easily ignore male deaths or think of them as necessary sacrifice. Soviet involvement in the whole Israel-Palestine affair was a major one. It was Stalin who was first to recognize Israel as a sovereign state. Soviets at the time (1948) hoped for an alliance with Jewish kibutz socialists. It turned out that the Israeli socialists decided to betray USSR and cozy up to a new ally in the face of US. Thus friendship with Israel has ended and a moderate support of the Palestinians has begun
