Two days ago Azeri soldiers have ambushed a car of a Russian peacekeeping force unit in Karabakh. All of the Russian peacekeepers inside the car were killed. Azeri president has issued an apology to Putin for "mistakenly" killing Russian troops. It happened during the latest attempted Azeri Reconquista of the majority Armenian region
No idea what to say on the matter really. It's foolish to have a peacekeeping force on the ground that lacks any purpose and is instructed not to fire first. It's tragic to die in Karabakh for no reason whatsoever when there are tens of thousands of men who successfully return home from the actual frontline in Ukraine. The disregard for human life and the swamp of diplomatic relations go together, i guess
But it's also important to understand that the very same scenario would have happened in Lugansk and Donetsk if Russia had not intervened and started the SMO. As of January of 2022, Ukraine could have easily conquered the entirety of LDNR - and they did express their willingness to do so at every step of the way. They have ramped up the shelling of the breakaway region in February 2022 as a preparation for an invasion. If the Ukrainians had dealt the first blow in full force, the LDNR defences would crumble. The few and far between Russian soldiers of fortune and military specialists would have been slaughtered along the way - just like our peacekeeping unit in Karabakh. And Russian Federation would have done exactly nothing about it
Thanks to SMO, we have pushed back the "fist" of Armed Forces of Ukraine and achieved a relative operational depth on their soil. Which is why the Ukrainian army - which is much more powerful than the Azeri forces - cannot just roll in and blast away any given Russian target. Because we have served the first serious blow to them and, more importantly, we have outlined what we're actually fighting for in this area
In "Karabakh", though, Russian peacekeepers have no agenda of their own. They're just stuck in there - hated by both armenians and azeris. The place itself is of no crucial interest to us and i really do hope that we either pull back altogether or establish our position clearly. As of now though it's just two Anti-Russian countries fighting for an irrelevant mountain range deep down in Southern Caucasus. Russian peacekeeping force is caught up there like deer in the headlights. I think it's time snap the fuck out of it

Russian MOD starting to give less of a shit with respect to the footage they publish. Usually they never show closeups of dead bodies. This is from Klesheyevka south of Bakhmut, which, despite claims to the contrary, is still very much in the grey zone, not under Ukrainian control. Don't watch if you are sensitive to this kind of thing https://t.me/ukraina_ru/170287

"I noticed a strange coincidence.
Whenever Ukrainians strike at some significant Russian target, a peculiar retaliation follows in a day or two: either a hotel with tourists is hit, or some abandoned facility in an industrial area is destroyed. Open the news a week later, and you'll see that a yacht has sunk with a group of Western intelligence agents somewhere in Italy, or an American general crashes in a light aircraft, or a group of high-ranking NATO officers get into a fatal car accident.
It's all very mysterious." https://t.me/istrkalkglk/4706

Dmitry Medvedev:
Today is the Day of Reunification of the new regions with Russia.
A year ago, in referendums, their inhabitants made the fateful decision to be with their Fatherland. This choice became a symbol not only of the restoration of historical justice, but also of the unity of the Russian people, their colossal will and selflessness.
The Special Military Operation will continue until the complete destruction of the Nazi Kiev regime and the liberation of native Russian territories from the enemy.
Victory will be ours.
And there will be more new regions in Russia.
Happy holiday!
Nothing to add. Happy Reunification Day!🔥 👍 👏 💪 😌

Ladies and gentlemen, the moment you've all been waiting for in our Romanov series has arrived! Dive deep into the turbulent era of Peter the Great, the Tsar who towered above the rest - both figuratively and literally. Venture back in time to witness the seismic shifts Peter introduced to Russia. From his ambition to westernize a sprawling empire, to founding the iconic city of St. Petersburg, the Tsar's visions were as vast as the Russian landscapes. Learn how he dragged Russia, sometimes by sheer force of will, into a new age, setting it on a path to become a European powerhouse, forever changing its fate.
It would not be a great exaggeration to say that the figure of Peter the Great, in itself of simply gigantic scale, set the course for the development for Russia for many centuries ahead. To this day, to some extent, we still follow his path. Peter is "our everything", perhaps even more so than Pushkin. For better or worse, we owe everything to Peter the Great. From toy armies to Life Guards, from kaftans to German coats, from derelict Dutch frigates to the first Russian Navy, Peter changed just about everything, including the calendar and the language.
Mikhail Pogodin, one of Russia's most eminent 19th century historians, put it this way:
“We wake up. What day is it today? January 1st, 1842 — Peter the Great ordered to count the years from the Birth of Christ, Peter the Great ordered to count the months from January.
It's time to get dressed — our dress is tailored to the fashion set by Peter the First, the uniform is of his design. The cloth is woven at the factory he established; the wool is sheared from the sheep he bred.
A book catches your eye — Peter the Great introduced this typeface and carved the letters himself. You begin to read it — under Peter the First, this language became written, literary, replacing the previous, ecclesiastical one.
They bring you the newspapers — Peter the Great started them.
You need to buy various things — everything from a silk handkerchief to a shoe sole will remind you of Peter the Great...”
Join us in our journey to delve into the rule of one of the most influential figures in Russian history, period, in the fifth installment of our Romanov series, OUT NOW, and available to everyone, on both Patreon and Gumroad.

How often do you think of the Waffen SS?
Time and necessity can normalize anything, no matter how absurd or vile it is. After seven decades, it is the turn of the post-WW2 consensus that Nazis were the bad guys to be upended, and the very same Nazis and their allies, particularly the Baltic and Ukrainian Waffen SS volunteers, to be seen in another, positive light, their numerous crimes excused, all in the name of serving the new unifying cause-fighting Russia.
Perhaps, and contrary to the immediate aftermath of this very telling incident, the presence of an SS volunteer on the Canadian parliament will be remembered as the turning point. Here, we delve on the vectors and processes that seem to inexorably lead to this normalization
