Americans Say Real Estate and Gold Are the Best Long-Term Investments, Gallup Poll Shows
A recent Gallup poll reveals that Americans view real estate and gold as the top long-term investments.
According to the survey, 37% of respondents believe real estate is the best long-term investment, while 23% favor gold (a 5 percentage point increase from the previous year). Meanwhile, only 16% see stocks as the top choice, marking a 6 percentage point decline. Gold has now risen to become the second most preferred savings asset.
Other assets trail far behind: 5% prefer bonds, and 4% favor cryptocurrencies.
The poll also shows that 62% of adult Americans own stocks, and 59% have a retirement savings plan. Homeownership is more prevalent among wealthier, married, educated, and older individuals.
