Trump Restricts U.S. LNG Exports to Boost Shipbuilding Industry

Under Trump’s plan, starting April 2029, 1% of U.S. LNG exports must be transported on American ships, with the figure rising to 15% by 2047. This initiative has caused significant concern among U.S. LNG producers.

American energy companies are now seeking exemptions for LNG tankers from the new rules introduced by Donald Trump’s administration, which mandate a gradual increase in the use of domestically produced vessels for transportation, according to Reuters.

As the global leader in LNG exports, with an annual export value of $34 billion, the U.S. views these measures as part of a broader strategy to revive its shipbuilding industry. Under the plan, 1% of LNG exports must be shipped on U.S.-made vessels by April 2029, increasing to 15% by 2047.

Americans Say Real Estate and Gold Are the Best Long-Term Investments, Gallup Poll Shows

A recent Gallup poll reveals that Americans view real estate and gold as the top long-term investments.

According to the survey, 37% of respondents believe real estate is the best long-term investment, while 23% favor gold (a 5 percentage point increase from the previous year). Meanwhile, only 16% see stocks as the top choice, marking a 6 percentage point decline. Gold has now risen to become the second most preferred savings asset.

Other assets trail far behind: 5% prefer bonds, and 4% favor cryptocurrencies.

The poll also shows that 62% of adult Americans own stocks, and 59% have a retirement savings plan. Homeownership is more prevalent among wealthier, married, educated, and older individuals.

For the 12th consecutive year, real estate remains the top choice for Americans as the best long-term investment.
