But it took me 3-4 minutes to collect all the data I need to craft this essay. The thing is that do a lot of reading if you want to improve your writing skills because it is next to impossible to enhance your abilities as a writer without much reading.

People living in the 21st century have a better quality of life than people who lived in previous centuries. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Throughout human history, there have been many changes to the way we live, behave and think, but the most important aspect to consider is the quality of life people have access to. Some have claimed that living in the 21st century is better compared to bygone centuries, which I believe is mostly true, albeit with some challenges of its own.
One major disadvantage of modern life is associated with the way people treat the surrounding environment. Specifically, revolutionized industrialization and improved technologies have given rise to many unforeseen environmental issues, such as global warming and climate change, making it difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Increased levels of pollution and other harmful gases slowly poison our lungs and cause respiratory diseases, which directly threatens human life expectancy. Another downside lies in the widespread use of the internet. By doing so, many individuals around the globe have become more isolated and alienated, losing touch with their loved ones and friends. This has resulted in unwanted feelings like depression, loneliness, and anxiety. Take an example of a seemingly developed and economically robust country, the US, where more than half of its population reported the cases of feeling lonely and isolated, proving that the 21st century is not entirely better than those previous times.
Notwithstanding these drawbacks, in my view, there are a number of major benefits that people take for granted. One of them is the rise of new medical and educational breakthroughs, meaning education and medicine today are far superior and more developed than in the past. Studies have shown that fewer and fewer people die of chronic or previously incurable illnesses that have become more manageable, reducing mortality rates. The recent COVID-19 pandemic is a stark case in point. To be more precise, world populations have already gained necessary immunity against this deadly virus thanks to medical and educational advances in respective fields. Furthermore, modernity has opened doors to many opportunities in terms of education, with the help of the internet platforms. In fact, people are one click away from learning invaluable knowledge and information that can support their holistic learning and academic development, which would be impossible without the rise of new technological and scientific advances.
In summary, arriving at the conclusion, especially claiming that the 21st century has worsened the quality of life for us is not a fully solid point. While environmental problems and mental health issues have stemmed from modernity, it has also paved the way for advancements in medical research and personal learning experiences.

The line chart shows information on the percentage of computer ownership across households in one country in Europe from 1997 to 2011.
Overall, the proportion of households owning only one computer remained dominant throughout the entire period. While the ownership of two and three or more computers saw an upward trend, with the former gaining more popularity, households without one had a steady decline within the same timeframe.
Examining the details more closely, it is seen that the proportion of households possessing a computer stood at just below 45% in 1997, which then experienced a slight rise before culminating exactly at 45% by 2011. When it comes to those with no computers, the figure accounted for around 48% at the beginning. Over the following years, it steadily declined and reached approximately 23%, marking the most significant decline in the dataset.
As for the remaining categories, such as households with two and three or more computers, it can be observed that they followed an upward trajectory. During the first three years, starting from 1997, there was no ownership of the latter, while the formerβs percentage went from 7% to 10% by 2000. After this point, the proportion of three or more computers began to rise, reaching only about 8% in 2011, whereas the figure for those with two computers witnessed the most substantial rise to well under a third at the end of the period.

Unless you have good analytical skills, you will have a difficult time writing reports. Plus, charts and graphs seem complicated at a first glance, but on a closer look, you are in for a big surprise β they are not as complex as they appear to be.
You never know before a try, so don't be afraid to analyze reports even though you don't have any previous experience in chart analysis yet. Lack of a better word, it is simply a phobia, bugging you all day long. Take your feet off the brakes and act on it right away.

Fewer and fewer people today write by hand using a pen, a pencil, or brush. What are the reasons for this? Is the decline in writing by hand a positive or negative development?
For many centuries, people have used a pen, a pencil, or brush to write documents or texts, but with the technological advancements, now there is a decline in the number of people who use such tools for writing. This essay will discuss the reasons behind this development and decide if this is a positive or negative trend overall.
There are several contributing factors to the declining use of writing tools. Firstly, with todayβs fast-paced world, people do not have enough amount of time to complete their work through pens or pencils as they take more time than computer software programs or smartphone note-taking apps. Besides this, many workers and students are snowed under piles of work and assignments with little to no time as well as pressured for time with tight deadlines. Along with this, for most individuals, writing with a pen, pencil, or perhaps a brush is simply inconvenient. Since we live in an era that offers an endless list of comforts and conveniences, utilizing alternative ways to write appears to be a more comfortable option, particularly for those who prioritize accessibility and productive work.
In my opinion, this shift in writing habits has been a positive development, especially considering environmental benefits and increased efficiency. Obviously, the use of physical writing instruments invariably requires the production of papers. For example, approximately 80,000 to 160,000 trees are cut on a daily basis to produce paper products worldwide, making it a major contributor to deforestation. This inadvertently affects biodiversity, carbon storage, and climate change, exacerbating these issues. Furthermore, making use of technology for taking notes or documentation instead of aforementioned tools is indeed more effective. Digital instruments allow for faster typing, editing, and instant sharing that makes them more appealing for people who are burdened with time-consuming jobs, thereby struggling to complete their tasks at hand.
In conclusion, the reduction in the utilization of pens, pencils, or brushes stems from the lack of time and prioritization of comfort over everything else. I believe that this trend has mainly been a more positive change taking into account the accompanying merits, such as environmental sustainability and maximized effectiveness.

If so, then there is a simple solution that can make this slip disappear over time. The idea is that you have to practice a technique called 'Super Sentences', thereby significantly improving your speaking skills.
Pull a pen and paper, and start with a short sentence, say, I want to become a doctor. Once you are done, practice stretching out your sentence.
I want to be a doctor, but it is not an easy decision to make as medical students study at least for 6-8 years, which can be overwhelming for someone like me who has ADHD and cannot focus on one thing at a time.
By doing so, you can train your mind to think sentences, not individual words, which can be of great help for your overall speaking score. Plus, you have to learn these highlighted connecting words (but, as, which, and who), since without them, your speech does not make any sense.
Remember, this should be done on a daily basis, as the consistency is the key for success. Stop thinking and second-guessing, just do it!

Some people say that in the modern world, getting old is entirely bad. Others, however, say that life for the elderly nowadays is much better than it was in the past. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
There has been a debate over whether the modern world is a better or worse place for the elderly to be living compared to previous times. Although becoming older entailed several benefits in the past, such as more cohesive family structures and quality retirement conditions, I believe, now, seniors have access to better eldercare and medical treatments.
On the one hand, bygone years were a better time for older generations to be alive as families were more effectively structured. A typical family would be made up of parents, children, and their grandparents, which is a rare case nowadays because the elderly end up in nursing or group homes. By keeping ageing parents under their roof and taking care of them, adults took advantage of the opportunity in return since older generations often assisted with childcare and advice on important matters. Along with this, in their 70s, individuals had better retirement programs in the past. Unlike then, they are forced to work longer years to support their livelihoods due to economic instabilities and inflations, making it difficult to maintain a sustainable lifestyle these days. Thus, the past appears to be a more favorable time for older generations.
However, comforts and conveniences the modern world offers the elderly are too significant to be overlooked. First and foremost, with the help of contemporary facilities, older people are looked after more efficiently than ever before in institutions, such as nursing homes. The chief reason is that the new generation of adults is incapable of providing for their ageing parents, thus deemed unfit to take on this responsibility. Given todayβs economy, for most individuals, it seems like the most viable solution unless they can make enough money to support their older counterparts. Besides enhanced eldercare, compared to previous times, medicine has experienced many advances, enabling seniors to have access to better medical care. This has also resulted in improved life expectancy, thereby reducing the number of deaths from simple diseases like common cold, flu to widespread pandemics such as COVID-19.
In conclusion, while past generations enjoyed stronger family ties and stable retirements, todayβs elderly benefit from advanced healthcare and professional eldercare. Despite financial challenges, these improvements make modern times a better era for ageing populations.

Nowadays, many people are now spending more and more time travelling to work or school. Some people believe that this is a negative development while others think there are some benefits. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Compared to past decades, commute times to workplaces and educational institutions have increased significantly. While some people view this as a negative trend, others, including myself, argue that extended commuting has more benefits than drawbacks.
There are several negative aspects associated with increasing commute times. Many people, particularly those who drive to work or school, suffer from this trend in terms of time efficiency, as they could have spent their commuting hours on meaningful activities. For example, a person who lives far from their workplace or educational institution may waste at least three to four hours daily, leading to poor time management. In addition, extended travel times can cause excessive fatigue and burnout, ultimately reducing work productivity. If not for such lengthy commutes, individuals would perform better, utilizing their skills and abilities to their full potential to achieve success in their respective fields. For these reasons, longer commutes can be seen as a negative shift in peopleβs lives.
However, extended travel times can offer significant advantages. In reality, the majority of people who work or study use public transportation to commute, which provides them with an opportunity to engage in productive activities. These may include reading, listening to educational podcasts, or planning their day, all of which contribute positively to their personal and professional growth. This allows individuals to mentally prepare for the day ahead and unwind after long and tiring working hours. Besides its educational and mental merits, longer journeys encourage social interactions and networking opportunities, which can be instrumental for career or academic development. They provide a chance to meet like-minded individuals, exchange ideas, and even build professional connections that may lead to future collaborations or job prospects.
In conclusion, while lengthy commute times have some disadvantages, such as a loss of valuable time for drivers and physical exhaustion that may hinder job or academic performance, I am of the opinion that the benefits outweigh the drawbacks since longer travels pave the way for engagement in productive activities, mental preparation, stress relief, and meaningful networking among commuters.

These are who I relate to. These are who I identify with. These people represent what I stand for β pride, which others see as ego.
π―5β€2β‘2
I don't even know where to begin with, especially when we are talking about these absolute class act personas on television, which they took to total perfection.
Walter White, a failed genius chemist, who wound up working as a chemistry teacher at a low-tier public school, but over time, managed to build a drug empire big enough to be listed next to Fortune 500 companies. Imagine, the minute you pick up a gun and mention that it is quite heavy, your stupid brother-in-law saying that's why they hire men in front of your wife, teenage son, and a bunch of strangers. I cannot begin to understand what Walt must have felt at that particular moment, which partially led to his legendary transformation. Ironically, his family hated him for what he had become when they were the ones who created The Great Heisenberg. If it were not for this pride and ego, he would have still been teaching chemistry and being looked down on at every chance.
As for Saul Goodman, formerly known, as Jimmy McGill, who had transformed himself into a lawyer for criminals is one of my all-time favourite cinema characters. This representation, in my view, is deeply rooted in his past experiences, anything from his condescending older brother to chronic unemployment. Now, drum rolls, please! I believe that he would have taken many job opportunities from his shitty brother's law firm if not for his unbearable pride. Everybody, literally everyone saw him as egotistical human being when he was being proud of who he truly is, which by the way, was his downfall.
Last but not least, the great mighty Harvey Specter, an attorney in law who likes to play in the gray and present himself as emotionally unavailable person. A show of pride and ego can be seen in his high-school yearbook, which clearly states that loyalty is a two-way street. If I'm asking for it from you, then you're getting it from me. This character strikes a chord with me because he is a constant reminder of what robust principles are: loyalty, hard work, and compassion for loved ones. Plus, due to his natural instincts as such pride and ego, he allowed himself to hire a fraud in the first place and defended him throughout the series even though it was against the law itself.
All I wanted to say is that don't mistake pride for ego, as you cannot mistake kindness for weakness and rudeness for strength. Hope this post reignites your interest in tv series, as they are not just television shows, but absolute reflection of modern life.
