The US has been funding research on laboratory pathogens and biological weapons in Ukraine since 2005.
Judging by the document signed by the US Department of Defense and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, $ 15 million was allocated for research in the field of bioweapons in laboratories located in Kyiv, Lvov and Odessa.
The document states that the US government has provided materials and provided training to personnel for "collaborative biological research, detection and response to biological threat agents, and improving the protection of biological materials."
