Friends, can you believe it? I filmed this video half a year ago, but I just couldn’t get around to publishing it in full.
And finally 🎊
A complete interview with my Italian friend about Russians and the Russian language is now live on my YouTube 📱 channel.

He shared what was the most difficult part, what surprised him in Russian, and how he’s managing to learn it.
The video turned out lively and very honest 💛

Watch it now on YouTube 📱, share your impressions, and write in the comments what other topics you’d like to see 💬

In the video we discuss:
1. How Giuseppe learned Russian.
2. About Russian people.
3. The hardest part of learning Russian.
4. The most difficult word in Russian.
5. Giuseppe’s advice for those who study languages.
6. About Giuseppe 🇮🇹

Не говорим: «Я есть 25 лет»
По-русски правильно: «Мне 25 лет»
In Russian, we don’t say “Я есть 25 лет.”
Instead, we say “Мне 25 лет” — literally “To me are 25 years.”

Here are all the pronouns in use:
• Мне — to me
• Тебе — to you
• Ему — to him
• Ей — to her
• Нам — to us
• Вам — to you (formal/plural)
• Им — to them

💡Tip: Always use the dative case (мне, тебе, ему, ей, etc.) when talking about age in Russian!
Примеры:
• Мне 25 лет.
• Тебе 18 лет.
• Ему 30 лет.
• Ей 22 года.
• Нам 40 лет.
• Вам 19 лет.
• Им 50 лет.

👉 Запомни: не «я есть», а «мне»!

🎉 Today, October 1st, we celebrate Teacher’s Day in Uzbekistan.

Why am I talking about Uzbekistan? Because I came here for three months to teach methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language to local school teachers. I truly enjoy being here until December.

Happy Teacher’s Day to all my colleagues and educators around the world! 💐

📌 In Russian we don’t just say something is on the table. We actually describe how it is placed.
➡️For example:
🥣 The plate stays on the table (тарелка стоит на столе)
🥄 The spoon lies on the table (ложка лежит на столе)
🔪 The knife lies on the table (нож лежит на столе)

In English you’d simply say The plate is on the table — but in Russian, objects are much more “alive” in the way they are described.

Do you like this Russian logic? 💭

❗️Why we don’t say “Если ты была вчера на уроке?” in Russian

In Russian, the word “если” means “if” — we use it only for conditions or future / planned situations, not for yes/no questions.
👉 Если будет дождь, я не пойду гулять. — If it rains, I won’t go for a walk.

But if you want to ask a yes/no question like “Were you at the lesson yesterday?”, you can’t use если.
In Russian, we use either:
1. The particle “ли” — it goes after the verb:
👉 Была ли ты вчера на уроке?
2. Or just word order and intonation:
👉 Ты была вчера на уроке?

So remember:
➡️ “Если” = “if” (for conditions)
➡️ “Ли” or word order = for yes/no questions

🗣️ In Russian, we don’t say “I don’t have boyfriend” using the verb to be!
Instead, we use the special word «нет» 💡

у меня не есть парень
у меня нет парня

So remember — in Russian, “нет” means “there is no” or “don’t have”.
Simple, but very Russian 😉🇷🇺
