Following a successful assault on Berlin by the Red Army, Adolf Hitler committed suicide. The title of Reich President and command of the armed forces of the Third Reich passed to Admiral Karl Dönitz.
Desperate to surrender to the British-American troops, on May 5, German delegation arrived in the French city of Reims, where the headquarters of the Western Allies command was located.
In the Article 4 of the Reims Instrument of Surrender of Nazi Germany stated that this document did not rule out the signing of another, definitive act at the request of one of the coalition members.
Thus, the document was recognised by the Soviet Union only as a preliminary instrument, and a new signing ceremony was proposed to be held in the capital of Nazi Germany, liberated by the Red Army - Berlin.
On May 9, 1945, at 2:10 am Moscow time, announcer Yury Levitan read out the Instrument of Unconditional Surrender of Nazi Germany and the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR declaring May 9 Victory Day. From that moment on, the Soviet Union and later Russia, as well as the most former Soviet republics have celebrated Victory Day on May 9.
💬 Sergey Lavrov: This year’s Victory Day has a special significance because we are celebrating this great holiday in a situation where Nazism is rearing its head again. The descendants of Napoleon and Hitler have joined the Anglo-Saxons, again seeking to inflict a “strategic defeat” on our country, destroy it and subordinate it to their narrow selfish hegemonic interests. Just like our fathers and grandfathers volunteered to the front, today, once again, we see an extraordinary upsurge in society, as Russians are rallying to another sacred battle.

Студенты Университета Куала-Лумпура, изучающие русский язык, приняли участие в акциях «Окна Победы» и «Георгиевская ленточка». Российские преподаватели университета рассказали ребятам о ключевых событиях Великой Отечественной войны и о том, какой ценой досталась победа. Затем студентам, которые приняли участие в Диктанте Победы, были вручены дипломы участников. 9 мая в Российском центре науки и культуры в Куала-Лумпуре состоялось памятное мероприятие, посвященное 79-летию Победы советского народа над фашизмом в Великой Отечественной войне 1941-1945 гг., в котором приняли участие руководство российских загранучреждений, а также Посольств Азербайджана, Кыргызстана, Таджикистана, Туркменистана и Узбекистана.
Большой честью для присутствующих стало участие в церемонии делегации Министерства обороны Российской Федерации под руководством Начальника кораблестроения, вооружения и эксплуатации вооружения – заместителя главнокомандующего Военно-Морским Флотом по вооружению, вице-адмирала Игоря Тимербулатовича Мухаметшина.
При почетном карауле сотрудников военного атташата присутствующие возложили цветы к памятному монументу, посвященному погибшим в Великой Отечественной войне, расположенному на территории РЦНК. Была объявлена минута молчания.

BERNAMA: The International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia aims to explore collaboration opportunities with institutions in #Russia and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (#OIC) countries during its attendance at the XV International Economic Forum Russia – Islamic World: #KazanForum 2024.
IAIS chairman Prof Dr Maszlee Malik, expressed his mission to promote cultural diplomacy with Russia and other participating countries during his inaugural participation at the Kazan Forum.
“There are a lot of things we can explore through the platform of cultural diplomacy. IAIS is working closely with the Embassy of Russia in Kuala Lumpur to promote cultural ties.
“Among the sectors that can be explored through cultural diplomacy include education, literature, halal tourism, people-to-people relations, community relations, the Muslim ummah bonding and exchange of students. There are a lot of things that all the countries can learn from each other,” he told Bernama when met at his office recently.
Bernama earlier reported that representatives and experts from more than 80 countries have confirmed their participation in the XV International Economic Forum Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024 from May 14 to 19 in Russia.
According to KazanForum 2024 secretariat among the OIC member countries that will be represented in the forum include the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Malaysia, Turkiye, and Iran.
KazanForum this year will include the International Property Market, Halal Expo, discussion on medical tourism and media content development.
President Vladimir Putin, in a message published on the Kremlin website on Friday, emphasised Russia’s enduring commitment to its traditionally friendly relations with Muslim countries.
“I believe that the work of the Forum will be meaningful and constructive as always and will be held in a spirit of openness and trust. It will serve to further promote the friendship and creative partnership between our countries and peoples,” he said.

«Система стандартов подразумевает свод норм и правил, которым должны соответствовать услуги предприятий сферы гостеприимства: в номер отеля (по запросу гостя) должен быть предоставлен Коран, молитвенные коврики и другие религиозные атрибуты, отсутствовать в меню и мини-баре алкоголь, а также другие требования. Нормы распространяются не на все номера, а на конкретные, таким образом гостиница может одинаково радушно принимать и гостей-мусульман и гостей других конфессий.
