In the northeast of Moscow lies the Komi Republic. The capital of the Republic is Syktyvkar and the name of the Komi people comes from the name of the Kama River. Many still live there the way their fathers and grandfathers lived, and this, perhaps, is the best thing there – traditions. Here are some interesting facts about this region:

🔸 There are more than 78,000 lakes here, but 98% of them have an area of less than 0.5 square kilometers;

🔸 About 60,000 tons of cranberries are harvested here annually;

🔸 Situated in the Komi Republic, the swamp called Ocean, with an area of almost 179,000 hectares, is the largest in all of Europe;

🔸 Here is the largest woodworking enterprise in Russia;

🔸 In the Komi Republic there are about 4400 different species of animals;

🔸 Here you can see one of the Seven Wonders of Russia – pillars of weathering, unique rock formations (👇🏻);

🔸 Scientists unite under the concept of “Komi” 11 different ethnic groups.

On January 18, 1943, during Operation Iskra, conducted by the forces of two Soviet fronts, the Leningrad and Volkhov fronts, Red Army units managed to break the siege of Leningrad.

The siege started on September 8, 1941, and lasted 872 days.

The military significance of the blockade breakthrough was that it finally destroyed the plans of the Hitlerite command to take Leningrad by storm, and in this sense, historians and the military see Operation Iskra as a turning point in the entire Leningrad Battle of 1941-1944. Since the blockade was broken, the initiative in this sector of the Soviet-German front has passed to the Red Army.

On January 18, 2018, the Panorama Museum "Proryv" was opened, which is one of the military memorial monuments united by the common theme "Defense and Siege of Leningrad".
❗️ The UN Secretariat’s press release on the Black Sea initiative left us no choice but to respond. It distorts the facts, which is why Russia must provide the real data and estimates as a participant (unlike the UN) of both agreements signed in Istanbul on July 22, 2022.

☝️ The real geography of the Ukrainian food recipients is as follows: high-income countries (the EU, Britain, etc.) received 8.6 million tonnes of cargo (47 percent); countries with above-average incomes (China, Jordan, Malaysia, etc.) received 6.1 million tonnes of cargo (33 percent) and countries with below-average incomes (Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, etc.) got 2.9 million tonnes (16 percent). Only 551,527 tonnes (3 percent), including 396,169 tonnes (2 percent) carried by UN WFP-charted vessels, were sent to needy countries (Ethiopia, Somalia, Yemen, Sudan, Afghanistan and Djibouti).
