👩 🚀 On June 16, 1963, Valentina Tereshkova performed her historic mission aboard Vostok-6, became the first woman in space. And to this day she remains the only female to have ever ventured to orbit solo.

🔹 Launched from Baikonur Vostok-6 orbited the Earth 48 times and successfully landed in the Altai Territory. The flight took 2 days, 22 hours and 50 minutes. During the flight, Valentina Tereshkova took a series of pictures of the horizon, which was later used to detect aerosol levels in the atmosphere.

🔹 Tereshkova’s space flight became a global sensation. Three days after the flight, she was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Later on, she received the titles of Hero of Socialist Labour of Czechoslovakia, Bulgaria, Vietnam and Mongolia, and also became honorary citizen of 18 Russian and foreign cities.

💬"Russia is not angry, but is concentrating. We have preserved our sovereignty and the ability to defend our national interests. Now is the time to rethink resources in a life without rules. I will clarify - not in the conditions of sanctions or blockade, namely life without sanctions. A world without rules is war. Economic and political. Any country may find itself in a situation where the dollar, as a reserve currency, will be blocked. Who's next - China? Africa?" – emphasized at the Forum Opening Ceremony, Andrey Belousov, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia.

🎙 FM Sergey Lavrov’s interview with TASS news agency, St Petersburg (June 16, 2022)

💬 We are defending Donbass. We had to recognise the independence of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic. We will uphold their independence within the borders where they held the referendum in 2014.

💬 You see the people’s response in the DPR, the LPR, the Kherson region and Zaporozhye region, and a number of other Ukrainian regions. They want to build a peaceful life without constantly experiencing fear of the neo-Nazis who have been abusing them all these long years.

💬 We are key initiators of the statements that were made at the Russian-US summits, as well as those made on behalf of the leaders of the five UN Security Council permanent member countries, saying that there can be no winners in a nuclear war and so it must never be unleashed. That is our position. We are strongly committed to it.

📍 Saint-Petersburg, June 16, 2022

◻️ To attain its strategic goal, the West, first, is ready to hurt its own citizens for the sake of its geopolitical ambitions, and second, is forcing all others to act likewise through open blackmail, threats, ultimatums and other lowbrow methods and moves.

◻️ I hope that along with politicians who irresponsibly demand to supply Ukraine with whatever it wants, there are military people who realise what is at stake and understand the risks involved.

◻️ We do not have a goal to become one of the poles of a multipolar world. We are just stating an objective reality. This world is developing objectively, all by itself. All the current “labours” of the West are aimed at “containing” this objective historical process.

Vladimir Putin's remarks at the SPIEF 2022 plenary session. Highlights:

🔸The economic blitzkrieg against Russia had no chance of success from the start.

🔸Russia can scale up its food and fertiliser exports, and grain supplies to 50 mln tonnes next year.

🔸Russia will promote economic growth by relying on private business, and further reduce administrative hurdles.

🔸The Russian economy will continue to be open. Russia will never follow a path of self-isolation.

The President announced a number of instructions and proposals:

🔹Reduce the preferential mortgage interest rate to 7%, effective through this year, as announced earlier.

🔹Dramatically cut the number of audits across all Russian businesses, except on risky or potentially dangerous activities.

🔹Launch a comprehensive programme to upgrade housing and utility services.

🔹Increase support for families with children.

🔹Launch an industrial mortgage programme for enterprises at 5%.

🎙 FM Sergey Lavrov’s interview with the BBC TV channel

🔹 We announced a special military operation after being left with no other means to make it clear to the West that it is engaging in criminal activity by dragging Ukraine into NATO, by coddling and doting on a neo-Nazi regime, whose president Vladimir Zelensky said in September 2021 (you didn’t tell your viewers about it, did you?) that, if someone in Ukraine feels Russian, they should leave for Russia.

🔹 Today, the Ukrainian regime is attacking civilians with your Western weapons just like they did in 2014 when the putschists came to power, when the centre of Lugansk was bombed by aircraft and 50 people were burned alive in Odessa.

🔹 I think that NATO is a threat. We are told not to worry, that Ukraine’s accession to NATO wouldn’t pose a threat to the Russian Federation. With all due respect for our colleagues from the North Atlantic Alliance, I must say that Russia has the right to decide for itself what threatens its security and what does not.

🎖 On June 18-20, 1937, pilot Valery Chkalov, co-pilot Georgy Baidukov and navigator Alexander Belyakov flew a single-engine Tupolev ANT-25 airplane non-stop from Moscow to Vancouver in the United States via the North Pole for the first time in history. In all, they covered over 8,500 kilometres.

🔹 The three pilots spent 63 hours in mid-air and constantly had to deal with unexpected problems, including strong side winds, low clouds and a shortage of oxygen. When the plane used up almost all its fuel, Chkalov managed to land it at Pearson Field in Vancouver, a suburb of Portland, Washington.

🔹 President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt received the pilots in the White House.

🔹 In 1975, the Chkalov Trans-Polar Flight Monument honouring the Soviet pilots was unveiled in Vancouver. In 2019, Russia’s Ambassador to the United States and the Mayor of Vancouver laid wreaths at the monument under a long-standing tradition.

#Opinion by Maria Zakharova

💬 Much has been said about the methods used by the Kiev authorities and their Western curators, and it is all the lowest of the low, absolutely all of it, from the exoneration of Nazism to biological experiments on people. However, one track of Kiev’s activities has kept a low profile until recently. And that’s unfortunate, because it directly affects us and our citizens.

It has to do with drugs, or, to be precise, the undeclared war being waged against our country by the Ukrainian special services since 2014.

📈 Let’s look at the figures for a start. In 2014, synthetic drugs (“spices” and “bath salts”) made up just 5 percent of the illegal turnover of drugs, whereas last year they accounted for 60 percent. The main suppliers of synthetic drugs are Ukrainians: 47 out of 67 members of the Khimprom drug syndicate, which was eliminated several years ago, had Ukrainian passports. In the Belgorod Region alone, which borders on Ukraine, the volumes of seized synthetic drugs grew by 20 times from 2019 to 2020. The labs set up by Ukrainians are operating at full capacity: just one laboratory can produce up to 30 kg of drugs (up to 300,000 doses) in a day, which is a formidable potential and colossal illegal money.

It may appear at first glance that we’re talking about a typical criminal story: Ukrainians driven to despair by their government embarked on a crooked path of spreading drugs. But it’s not that simple.

It turns out that each of the drug mules, dealers and producers from Ukraine went through the same procedure before going on a business trip to Russia: they had a talk with a curator from the Security Service of Ukraine.

👉 Once again: the Ukrainian special services identified potential criminals on their territory and provided them with money and equipment to distribute drugs in our country.

In all probability, they targeted young people, which is why instead of classical opiates the Ukrainians have been selling salts and spices popular among teenagers. Obviously, the proceeds from illegal trade didn’t go to the poor Ukrainian drug couriers (who were, in addition, threatened with reprisals against their families, as they said during interrogation) but into the clutches of the Ukrainian special services.

These methods are nothing new. In the 19th century, in order to obtain quasi-colonial trade preferences, the West began to sell Indian opium among the Chinese, which naturally displeased the authorities in Beijing. China issued decrees to limit the British drug cartels. In response, London, backed up by Washington, unleashed opium wars against the Chinese.

It’s unlikely people in Ukraine know much about the history of the Western drug expansion to the East, so nobody should have any doubt about who is helping Ukraine’s security services to organise drug supplies to Russia.

💬 Russia's Minister for Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic Alexei Chekunkov at the 2022 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum:

☝️ The Western nations aim to turn the Arctic into a 'battlefield', while for Russia the Arctic remains an area and territory of cooperation. This was proven by the Economic Forum held in St. Petersburg, where the Arctic agenda and its international aspects were discussed exclusively in a constructive manner - despite the emotional demarche of our northern neighbors who are trying to turn the Arctic Council into a semi-Arctic one.

⚠️ We continue to carefully record numerous facts of criminal acts by the Kiev regime against the civilian population of Ukraine and the people's republics of Donbas, as well as the use of civilian infrastructure by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and militants of Ukrainian nationalist groups for military purposes:

🔹in Lisichansk, Lugansk People's Republic, in the schools №9, №14 and №28, as well as in the kindergarten №6, AFU servicemen have deployed strongpoints and munitions depots, as well as firing positions and sniper points in residential buildings;

🔹in Privolye, Lugansk People's Republic, in Kalinushka kindergarten, nationalists have deployed sniper positions, hardware and multiple rocket launchers, while the residents of nearby buildings remain forcibly detained in the pre-school institution;

🔹in Zaporozhye, in the school №12, in the boarding school №2 and in the kindergarten №81, units of Ukrainian armed groups have deployed their manpower, hardware and military equipment;

🔹in the densely populated areas of Kramatorsk, Donetsk People's Republic, in the higher vocational schools №14 and №28, in the lyceum №4, in the schools №7 and №12, Territorial Defence units have deployed their strongpoints and munitions depots, as well as artillery and multiple rocket launchers at the adjacent territory.

❗️Although the militants know that this kind of criminal acts can cause victims among civilians, they intentionally launch attacks at the settlements of the Donetsk People's Republic and the positions of the Russian Armed Forces provoking a counter-attack in order to impose the responsibility for destroying civilian infrastructure facilities on them in accordance with the previously practiced methods.
