⚠️Ukrainian armed formations continue to use medical infrastructure to equip strongholds and deploy heavy weaponry:

🔹in Kramatorsk, Donetsk People's Republic, armoured vehicles and artillery are deployed in large numbers in the surrounding area of Polyclinic No 3;

🔹in Lisichansk, Lugansk People's Republic, an AFU unit has been deployed on the territory of city hospital No 1, with armoured vehicles and artillery firing positions in the surrounding area;

🔹in Slavyansk, Donetsk People's Republic, militants of the Ukrainian armed formations equipped firing positions, artillery and MLRS on the territories of the tuberculosis dispensary and the central city hospital;

🔹in Odessa, AFU units equipped a stronghold in the building of oncological dispensary.

▫️At the same time, all patients, including those who were seriously ill, were kicked out of the hospital.

❗️These and other similar facts of gross violations of international humanitarian law by the Kiev regime, despite repeated statements by the Russian Federation's Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response, have so far remained unnoticed by the World Health Organization.

⚠️The International Committee of the Red Cross, under the pretext of the allegedly unstable situation in Donbass, stopped deliveries of vital medicines and products for diagnostics and specific treatment of patients with a weakened immune system, chronic infectious and endocrine diseases to medical institutions in the people's republics.

▫️This will leave more than 12,000 patients without the necessary qualified care in the coming months, leading to an increase in new illnesses and deaths.

❗️We call on the World Health Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross, as the organizations coordinating health and medical assistance activities for the population in emergency zones, to resume regular deliveries of medicines to the Donbass republics.

#Opinion by Maria Zakharova

💬 President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach said at a news conference in Switzerland that whether Russian athletes can compete in the 2024 Olympic Games depends on how the political situation develops.

His words: “We do not know how the political situation evolves and how the [military operation] evolves. We hope that there will be peace soon, hopefully as soon as possible. But we can just monitor the situation. This is up to the political world to take these decisions and then when the time comes if the situation should change, we will take the appropriate actions.”

He also said that the sanctions imposed on the Russian athletes and sports functionaries who were banned from international sports competitions are intended to protect Russian and Belarusian athletes: “The safety of the Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials could not be guaranteed because of the deep anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian feelings in so many countries following the [military operation].”

Well, thank you for your concern. But the IOC’s function is the opposite: it is to guarantee the safety of competition participants and to prevent the politisation of sports.

A little crash course. Pierre de Coubertin declared the principle of sports without politics. Below are international legal documents serving as grounds for cultivating this statement as one accepted by all.

1. The Olympic Charter:
“Sport occurs within the framework of society, sports organisations within the Olympic Movement shall apply political neutrality”
“Every individual must have the possibility of practising sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.”
“The enjoyment of the rights and freedoms set forth in this Olympic Charter shall be secured without discrimination of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.”
“The IOC’s role is to cooperate with the competent public or private organisations and authorities in the endeavour to place sport at the service of humanity”

2. Resolutions by the UN General Assembly:
A/RES/76/13 (2021): “The General Assembly supported the independence and autonomy of sport as well as the mission of the International Olympic Committee in leading the Olympic Movement and of the International Paralympic Committee in leading the Paralympic Movement, and recognized the unifying and conciliative nature of Olympic Games and major international sport events”
A/RES/75/18 (2020): “The General Assembly supports the independence and autonomy of sport as well as the mission of the International Olympic Committee in leading the Olympic movement and of the International Paralympic Committee in leading the Paralympic movement”
A/RES/64/4 (2009): “The goal of the Olympic movement is to build a peaceful and better world by educating the youth of the world through sport, practised without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which is based on mutual understanding, friendship, solidarity and fair play”

A/RES/60/1 (2005): “Sports can foster peace and development and can contribute to an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding”

A/RES/48/11 (1993): “The goal of the Olympic Movement is to build a peaceful and better world by educating the youth of the world through sport, practised without discrimination of any kind”

3. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
“No distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs”

The question for Thomas Bach is, are you no longer committed to these principles?

🎙 President of Russia Vladimir Putin addressed the Plenary session of the 1st Eurasian Economic Forum, via videoconference.

The EEF 2022 in Bishkek, themed Eurasian Economic Integration in the Era of Global Shifts: New Investment Opportunities, focused on promising areas for the strategic development of integration.

💬 President Putin:

• The development of Eurasian integration has no connection whatsoever to current developments or market conditions. We established this organisation many years ago. Our motivation was global economic trends. The centre of economic development is gradually moving into the Asia-Pacific Region.

• If we do not separate ourselves by putting up a wall, nobody will be able to isolate such a country as Russia.

• As it has transpired now, neglect for the political and security interests of other countries leads to chaos and economic upheavals with global repercussions.

• Western countries are sure that any persona non grata who has their own point of view and is ready to defend it can be deleted from the world economy, politics, culture and sports. In fact, this is nonsense, and, as I said, it is impossible to make this happen.

• Import substitution is not a pill for every ill, and we are not going to deal exclusively with import substitution. We are just going to develop.

• What is important for the country, for its development are the engineering centres and research centres that are the basis of our own development. This is what we must think about and what we must work on both within the EAEU and in a broad sense with our partners – those who want to cooperate with us.

• The Eurasian Economic Union has developed a roadmap for industrialisation, with over 180 projects with a total investment of over $300 billion. A programme for agricultural development has been prepared, including more than 170 projects worth $16 billion.

💬 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on the #APEC trade ministers’ meeting

An aggressive pro-Western minority in multilateral associations of Asia-Pacific countries will not stop its attempts to impose a confrontational agenda on the regional community.

☝️ The meeting of the trade ministers of the APEC Forum that took place in Bangkok on May 21-22, 2022 is yet another graphic example of these attempts. The United States, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, joined by Japan, made an unfriendly demarche against Russia that went nowhere because APEC is dominated by a desire for depoliticised, constructive and future-oriented cooperation.

🇷🇺📞🇦🇹 President Vladimir Putin spoke over the phone with Federal Chancellor of Austria Karl Nehammer.

🔸 At the request of the Federal Chancellor of Austria, the President of Russia gave an assessment of the situation in the context of the ongoing special military operation to protect Donbass. The Russian leader also spoke about the efforts to ensure safe navigation in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.

🔸 The two leaders exchanged views on issues related to global food security. Vladimir Putin emphasised that attempts to blame Russia for the disrupted supply of agricultural produce to world markets were groundless. He explained in detail the real reasons behind these problems, which emerged, in part, due to the anti-Russia sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union.

🔸 Vladimir Putin reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to its contractual obligations with regard to natural gas supplies to Austria.

⚠️ According to information received from captured Ukrainian servicemen, militants of nationalist battalions are preparing another provocation with the use of toxic substances in Sumy.

▫️The neo-Nazis plan to shell Russian border territory from a residential area in the city and provoke Russian units to retaliate, after which they will blow up chemical tanks.

📹Foreign journalists are in Sumy to take photographs and video.

▫️This cynical action will soon be used by the Kiev authorities to accuse the Russian Armed Forces of allegedly using chemical weapons and indiscriminate strikes on civilians.

▫️Moreover, while previously in preparation for such provocations the civilian population was withdrawn from the area of planned contamination, now, in order to maximise the resonance, no warning was given to the population.

❗️We warn the "civilized West" as well as the United Nations, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in advance that the above and other similar provocations about alleged "Russian atrocities" are soon to be widely spread by the Ukrainian authorities through the Western media and in various Internet resources.

🇷🇺🇫🇷🇩🇪 Vladimir Putin spoke by telephone with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron and Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz

🔸To follow up on the previous contacts in this format, the leaders exchanged views on the most recent developments in Ukraine. The President of Russia informed the other parties at length about the latest events in the context of the ongoing special military operation, noting that the Russian Armed Forces are strictly observing the norms of international humanitarian law, and spoke about the systematic work being carried out to establish peaceful life in Mariupol and other liberated cities in Donbass.

🔸Special attention was paid to the progress on the negotiation track, which has been stalling through Kiev’s fault. Vladimir Putin reaffirmed the Russian side’s openness to the resumption of dialogue.

🔸The President of Russia was critical of the continued dangerous practice of pumping Ukraine with Western weapons, cautioning against the risks of the country’s further destabilisation and aggravation of the humanitarian crisis.

🔸The parties reviewed in detail the global food security concerns. Vladimir Putin explained the real reasons for the unstable food supplies, saying that the disruptions were due to Western countries’ erroneous economic and financial policies, as well as their anti-Russia sanctions. He substantiated his statements with evidence and specific data. Russia, on the other hand, is ready to help find options for unhindered grain exports, including the export of Ukrainian grain from the Black Sea ports. Increasing the supplies of Russian fertilisers and agricultural produce will also help reduce tensions in the global food market, but that will definitely require the lifting of the relevant sanctions.

🔸The leaders agreed to continue contacts.

⚠️In Kharkov Region, militants of the nationalist Kraken unit, formed mainly from radicals and released from prison rapists and murderers, conduct punitive raids in which so-called "death squads" at night break into the homes of local residents suspected by the SSU of pro-Russian sentiment, physically abuse them and take them away to an unknown destination.

▫️Dozens of the detainees never returned home, and their fate is still unknown.

▫️Such criminal actions and provocations on the part of the Kiev regime once again demonstrate Kiev's inhuman attitude towards the fate of its citizens and show complete disregard for the norms and principles of international humanitarian law.

❗️By applying a policy of "double standards", the collective West has absolutely no interest in conducting an impartial investigation and finding those responsible for the current disastrous humanitarian situation in Ukraine, and in fact "turns a blind eye" to numerous violations of international conventions by the Ukrainian side, shifting the blame onto the Russian Federation without evidence.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s interview with the French TV channel TF1

📍 Moscow, May 29, 2022

📰 READ IN FULL

Key points:

🔹 Unlike our Western colleagues, we are not chasing after the external effects. Nor do we regard the international actions we take as aimed at winning someone’s approval or achieving success, as you said. We are doing what we are forced to do. We are defending people and the Russian language, which has been exposed to direct discrimination and aggression by the Poroshenko and Zelensky regimes in Ukraine.

🔹 Dragging Ukraine into NATO meant creating a direct threat right on the border of the Russian Federation.

⁉️ How would France react if Belgium, for example, banned French? Or what would England do if Ireland banned English? Just imagine for a moment that Finland banned Swedish. The European mind is unable to imagine this. But the whole of Europe did not care a dime about how they were treating Russian.

🔹 You said diplomats are being expelled by both sides. We have not expelled anyone. These sanctions, which are more like hysterics (or even agony, I’d say), were initiated by the West. The speed with which they were introduced and the number of them show that they were not compiled overnight. They were being drafted for some time, and they will not likely be lifted.
