🔹 Now the West is raging as Russia defends its absolutely legitimate and fundamental interests. Russia made it clear that its security interests were being affected each time when, contrary to its promises, NATO expanded eastward on five occasions, coming closer to our borders.
🔹 Since 2009, we have repeatedly proposed concluding a special treaty that would guarantee the security of all countries, including Ukraine, without the expansion of NATO or other military-political alliances.
🔹 We have quit the Council of Europe of our own accord. From an organisation concerned with unity of the European legal space, the CE has degenerated into a tool of US interests (even though the United States is just an observer and not a member of the Council of Europe).

⚠️The humanitarian situation in regions under the control of the Kiev authorities is rapidly deteriorating and approaching a critical level.
❗️According to the UN Children's Fund, there are 8.7 million hungry people in Ukraine, with 22.8 per cent of children under the age of five suffering from malnutrition.
▫️At the same time, the Kiev regime, despite acute food shortages and the threat of a food crisis, neglecting the welfare of its own people, is "ready for anything" to please countries of the collective West, which, hypocritically claiming humanitarian support, seek to export grain from Ukraine as quickly as possible through the so-called "solidarity corridors" engaged by the European Union, with absolutely no concern about what will happen in the country after the emptying of Ukrainian grain storage facilities.
▫️All this is happening against the background of the unceasing hysteria of the "civilised West" and their false accusations against the Russian Federation of artificially creating a food crisis in the world.

⚠️According to information received from captured Ukrainian servicemen, SSU officers, at the instigation of Western handlers, prepared another provocations at grain storage facilities, following a previously practiced scenario in Rubizhnoe in Lugansk People's Republic and Orekhovoe in the Zaporozhye region, in order to accuse Russian servicemen of allegedly indiscriminate strikes against civilian infrastructure:
🔹in Prosyanaya, Dnepropetrovsk region, nationalist militants have booby-trapped the Prosyanaya grain elevator, which they plan to blow up in the near future;
🔹in Vrubovka, Lugansk People's Republic, the Ukrainian Armed Forces deployed MLRS systems on the territory of a grain-processing plant.
▫️At the same time, the nationalists have been systematically shelling Russian Armed Forces positions, provoking them to return fire.
▫️Such actions by Ukrainian nationalists imitate the tactics of the "scorched-earth" by the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War and contravene all generally accepted moral norms and principles of international humanitarian law.

🌍 On May 25, the world marks Africa Day (formerly Africa Liberation Day). On that day in 1963, Addis Ababa hosted the First Conference of Independent African Heads of State and Government, which paved the way for the creation of the Organisation of African Unity.
🇷🇺 Our country made an important contribution to the continent’s liberation.
✅ A number of African countries received Soviet military aid during their struggle for independence. Soviet military advisers and specialists were assigned, in different periods, to Angola, Ethiopia, Egypt, Mozambique, and other countries.
✅ It was the Soviet Union’s pressure that ushered in the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples, which proclaimed the need to put an end to colonialism and all forms of discrimination.
✅ Based on bilateral economic and technical cooperation agreements, the Soviet Union assisted the emergence of 37 African economies.

⚠️The International Committee of the Red Cross, under the pretext of the allegedly unstable situation in Donbass, stopped deliveries of vital medicines and products for diagnostics and specific treatment of patients with a weakened immune system, chronic infectious and endocrine diseases to medical institutions in the people's republics.
▫️This will leave more than 12,000 patients without the necessary qualified care in the coming months, leading to an increase in new illnesses and deaths.

💬 President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach said at a news conference in Switzerland that whether Russian athletes can compete in the 2024 Olympic Games depends on how the political situation develops.
His words: “We do not know how the political situation evolves and how the [military operation] evolves. We hope that there will be peace soon, hopefully as soon as possible. But we can just monitor the situation. This is up to the political world to take these decisions and then when the time comes if the situation should change, we will take the appropriate actions.”
He also said that the sanctions imposed on the Russian athletes and sports functionaries who were banned from international sports competitions are intended to protect Russian and Belarusian athletes: “The safety of the Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials could not be guaranteed because of the deep anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian feelings in so many countries following the [military operation].”
Well, thank you for your concern. But the IOC’s function is the opposite: it is to guarantee the safety of competition participants and to prevent the politisation of sports.
A little crash course. Pierre de Coubertin declared the principle of sports without politics. Below are international legal documents serving as grounds for cultivating this statement as one accepted by all.
1. The Olympic Charter:
➖ “Sport occurs within the framework of society, sports organisations within the Olympic Movement shall apply political neutrality”
➖ “Every individual must have the possibility of practising sport, without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.”
➖ “The enjoyment of the rights and freedoms set forth in this Olympic Charter shall be secured without discrimination of any kind, such as race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.”
➖ “The IOC’s role is to cooperate with the competent public or private organisations and authorities in the endeavour to place sport at the service of humanity”
2. Resolutions by the UN General Assembly:
➖ A/RES/76/13 (2021): “The General Assembly supported the independence and autonomy of sport as well as the mission of the International Olympic Committee in leading the Olympic Movement and of the International Paralympic Committee in leading the Paralympic Movement, and recognized the unifying and conciliative nature of Olympic Games and major international sport events”
➖ A/RES/75/18 (2020): “The General Assembly supports the independence and autonomy of sport as well as the mission of the International Olympic Committee in leading the Olympic movement and of the International Paralympic Committee in leading the Paralympic movement”
➖ A/RES/64/4 (2009): “The goal of the Olympic movement is to build a peaceful and better world by educating the youth of the world through sport, practised without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which is based on mutual understanding, friendship, solidarity and fair play”
➖ A/RES/60/1 (2005): “Sports can foster peace and development and can contribute to an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding”
➖ A/RES/48/11 (1993): “The goal of the Olympic Movement is to build a peaceful and better world by educating the youth of the world through sport, practised without discrimination of any kind”
3. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights:
➖ “No distinction shall be made on the basis of the political, jurisdictional or international status of the country or territory to which a person belongs”
The question for Thomas Bach is, are you no longer committed to these principles?

🎙 President of Russia Vladimir Putin addressed the Plenary session of the 1st Eurasian Economic Forum, via videoconference.
The EEF 2022 in Bishkek, themed Eurasian Economic Integration in the Era of Global Shifts: New Investment Opportunities, focused on promising areas for the strategic development of integration.
💬 President Putin:
• The development of Eurasian integration has no connection whatsoever to current developments or market conditions. We established this organisation many years ago. Our motivation was global economic trends. The centre of economic development is gradually moving into the Asia-Pacific Region.
• If we do not separate ourselves by putting up a wall, nobody will be able to isolate such a country as Russia.
• As it has transpired now, neglect for the political and security interests of other countries leads to chaos and economic upheavals with global repercussions.
• Western countries are sure that any persona non grata who has their own point of view and is ready to defend it can be deleted from the world economy, politics, culture and sports. In fact, this is nonsense, and, as I said, it is impossible to make this happen.
• Import substitution is not a pill for every ill, and we are not going to deal exclusively with import substitution. We are just going to develop.
• What is important for the country, for its development are the engineering centres and research centres that are the basis of our own development. This is what we must think about and what we must work on both within the EAEU and in a broad sense with our partners – those who want to cooperate with us.
• The Eurasian Economic Union has developed a roadmap for industrialisation, with over 180 projects with a total investment of over $300 billion. A programme for agricultural development has been prepared, including more than 170 projects worth $16 billion.

💬 Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on the #APEC trade ministers’ meeting
An aggressive pro-Western minority in multilateral associations of Asia-Pacific countries will not stop its attempts to impose a confrontational agenda on the regional community.
☝️ The meeting of the trade ministers of the APEC Forum that took place in Bangkok on May 21-22, 2022 is yet another graphic example of these attempts. The United States, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, joined by Japan, made an unfriendly demarche against Russia that went nowhere because APEC is dominated by a desire for depoliticised, constructive and future-oriented cooperation.

🔸 At the request of the Federal Chancellor of Austria, the President of Russia gave an assessment of the situation in the context of the ongoing special military operation to protect Donbass. The Russian leader also spoke about the efforts to ensure safe navigation in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea.
🔸 The two leaders exchanged views on issues related to global food security. Vladimir Putin emphasised that attempts to blame Russia for the disrupted supply of agricultural produce to world markets were groundless. He explained in detail the real reasons behind these problems, which emerged, in part, due to the anti-Russia sanctions imposed by the United States and the European Union.
🔸 Vladimir Putin reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to its contractual obligations with regard to natural gas supplies to Austria.
