📹 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s video address to participants in the 3rd International Forum of Ministers of Education, Shaping the Future (Moscow, June 11, 2025)
💬 I extend my warmest greetings to the organisers, participants and guests of the 3rd International Forum of Ministers of Education, Shaping the Future.
Your annual meetings, held with the Russian Foreign Ministry’s support as part of the Decade of Science and Technology declared by President Vladimir Putin, provide an excellent opportunity for all interested parties to discuss current international cooperation in the field of education and enlightenment.
This year, the hospitable capital of Tatarstan is once again hosting representatives of relevant ministries and agencies from the countries of the Global South and East that take a constructive approach to cooperation with Russia.
Today’s Forum is taking place during the year when we mark the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and World War II. Teachers who continued to work in wartime years, admirably doing their duty in the most difficult conditions, have made their valuable contribution to the Victory, also setting an example of personal fortitude and courage, and projecting confidence in the inevitable triumph of good over evil.
🎓 Russia has always placed special emphasis on fostering and educating the younger generations. This year, President Vladimir Putin established National Mentor Day for a meaningful reason. This day will be observed on March 2, which is the birthday of Konstantin Ushinsky, the founder of Russian scientific pedagogy whose legacy includes numerous works on the role of mentors in shaping the younger generation’s worldview. One of his most profound quotes is: “Education appears modest, even mundane – yet it is among history’s grandest pursuits.”
Mutually respectful partnerships of educators, based on the recognition of the cultural and civilisational diversity of the world and the multiplicity of development models, are instrumental in fostering the correct perception of the emerging multipolar international system. It is our conviction that a multipolar world best meets the fair needs of the global majority and aligns with the current stage of global development.
☝️ Russia has consistently advocated wider international cooperation in education. We are ready to share our success stories and best practices in teacher training, integrating digital technology, applying innovations in education, developing a mentoring system and other fields.
It goes without saying that we are invariably open to exploring, embracing and implementing the best foreign practices, provided we do so without compromising national traditions.
We will continue to consistently expand opportunities for studying Russian and receiving instruction in Russian abroad. Speaking Russian is key to getting an education in Russia, also by qualifying for the quotas for foreign citizens provided by the Government of the Russian Federation. In the near future, our country may also start offering grants to the best qualified foreign applicants.
I am confident that you will spend your time at the forum in a warm and friendly atmosphere, that your discussions will be fruitful and instrumental in deepening international humanitarian exchanges. I also hope that they will give rise to new promising initiatives aimed at deeper mutual understanding between peoples.
I wish you rewarding work and all the best.

🎙Greeting Address by Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov on the occasion of Russia Day (June 11, 2025)
💬 Dear compatriots, Dear friends,
🇷🇺On June 12, our country — and all those who feel connected to its destiny, including millions of people both in our homeland and around the world, including in Canada — celebrates Russia Day. Though this holiday is relatively young, it pays tribute to a unique state-civilization with a thousand-year history — a central power whose borders stretch across all of Eurasia.
🇷🇺 Reflecting on the creative path forged by our ancestors, we take pride in their heroic deeds. We are inspired by their unity, willpower, hard work, strength of spirit, patience, and wisdom. We have inherited a great country. Our duty is to protect this legacy, to multiply Russia’s achievements, and to ensure sovereignty, dignity, prosperity, and security for our children.
📍 Throughout history, our Motherland has repeatedly proven its ability to withstand any challenge and always achieve its goals. We are unafraid to set ambitious tasks — and we know with certainty that we will accomplish them. We are not hesitant to clearly and directly define our national interests.
❗️The key to success lies in the best qualities of our people — their intelligence and dedication, their faith and loyalty to the Fatherland and its traditions, and their desire to work for the common good. Our people, true patriots, and all those who see themselves as part of the vast Russian World are our greatest strength and foundation. Those who honor the memory of our ancestors, who carefully preserve our cultural heritage and pass it on from generation to generation, who speak and think in Russian, who defend our identity and moral values — all of them sustain our national spirit.
🎹 The contribution of the Russian people to the progress of all humankind is beyond measure. We are justly proud of our finest sons and daughters — their military and labor heroism, creative masterpieces, scientific breakthroughs, and athletic achievements.
🇺🇳 In today’s turbulent world, our country — as a major nuclear power and permanent member of the UN Security Council — is fully aware of its special responsibility to maintain international peace and security. We look to the future with confidence and continue to grow through our own efforts. We prove our case through actions. We inspire others by our example. And we remain open to cooperation with friends and neighbors.
Happy holiday, dear friends!
Happy Russia Day!

About the Motherland
What do the weeping birches sing of,
A melody full of light and tears?
Of Motherland they sing, of Motherland only.
What do wintering birds long for
From beyond the cold granite borders?
For Motherland they long, for Motherland only.
In moments of sadness, in time of adversity
Who shall caress us and who shall save us?
Motherland, Motherland only.
In bitter frost whom shall we warm,
And in difficult time whom shall we support (take pity upon)?
Motherland, dear Motherland only.
When we depart for interstellar flight,
What do our earthly hearts sing of?
Of Motherland they sing, of Motherland only.
We live in the name of goodness and love,
And the best songs of yours and mine
Are of Motherland, of Motherland only.
Under scorching sun and in heavy snow
My thoughts and my prayers
Are always with Motherland,
With Motherland only.

⚡️ Russia's Foreign Ministry Statement in connection with Israel’s strikes on Iran
Read in full
💬 We express our profound concern regarding the dangerous escalation of tensions in the Middle East.
❗️ We strongly condemn the military actions undertaken by the State of Israel on the night of June 13, which constitute a clear violation of the UN Charter as well as established principles of international law.
Unprovoked military strikes against a sovereign member state of the United Nations, against its citizens, peaceful cities, and critical nuclear energy infrastructure facilities, are totally unacceptable. The international community must not ignore such acts, which not only jeopardise peace but also undermine security both in the region and globally.
The timing of these attacks appears to be particularly cynical as they have occurred amidst a session of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and just ahead of the next round of indirect talks between representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States. These actions have drastically undermined the progress of painstaking multilateral diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and seeking solutions to eliminate suspicions and the bias surrounding Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme.
It is evident that West Jerusalem has made a deliberate decision to further escalate the situation and raise stakes. We have warned on numerous occasions about the destabilising effects of military ventures that threaten peace and security in the region. The full responsibility for the consequences of these provocative acts lies with the Israeli leadership.
We are closely monitoring the actions by the IAEA, which carries significant responsibility in this challenging situation. IAEA personnel, alongside citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, have also been exposed to Israeli strikes. We expect the IAEA Director General to provide balanced and objective assessments of the current developments – in particular, a comprehensive analysis of the potential radiological consequences of the attacks on nuclear facilities in Iran.
We also hope that the Western countries, which provoked the recent wave of anti-Iran hysteria at the IAEA Board of Governors, once again pushing through a short-term resolution tailored to suit their political preferences and entrenched phobias, despite its lack of broad international support, will come to realise the dangerous consequences of their destructive approach as well as the degree of responsibility they bear for the unfolding tragedy.
☝️ We strongly believe that, regardless of any justifications that may be offered by those who planned, developed, and carried out the attacks, the issue of the Iranian nuclear programme cannot and must not be resolved by military means. A sustainable settlement is only possible through peaceful, political, and diplomatic efforts.
We sincerely hope that this understanding will ultimately prevail. We call on the parties to exercise restraint to avoid further escalation and prevent a full-scale war in the region.
In this context, we note that the US is ready to hold another round of talks with Iran on the latter’s nuclear programme in Oman.

🎥 'Shaping architecture of equal and indivisible security: challenges and opportunities for states of Global South and East' — a documentary by Russia's Security Council.
Synopsis: The global political and economic landscape is undergoing profound transformation. We are witnessing a pivotal moment in history: the unipolar world order has reached an impasse, while multipolarity has become a reality. This shift has opened a window of opportunity to establish a fairer and more democratic world order.
Among the most consequential developments in recent international affairs is the emergence of a group of countries known as the World Majority. This grouping represents not only a new force in global politics and economics but also a catalyst for reshaping the structure of international relations.
The growing influence of the Global South and East is a natural and inevitable process. Their rise reflects not only changes in economic strength but also a broader rebalancing of global power.
🌐 Spanning Asia, Africa, and Latin America, the Global South is poised to play a pivotal role in defining the future of the global economy.
The countries of the World Majority refuses to submit their foreign policies to external interests and are firmly committed to preserving their cultural identity, traditional values, and national foundations.
☝️ The development of an architecture of equal and indivisible security offers a crucial opportunity to forge more resilient trade and scientific-technological partnerships, capable of withstanding the geopolitical, economic, environmental, and other pressing challenges of our time.

Ukraine continues to implement forcible conscription. Facing frontline personnel shortages, Kiev has to invent new methods of forced mobilisation.
Between February and June, some 1.5 million individuals previously deemed partially fit for service were compelled to undergo repeated medical examinations. It is not surprising that over 90% of them had their previous deferment status revoked.
The Verkhovna Rada has approved in the first reading a draft law on “voluntary mobilisation” of men over the age of 60. They will be offered a one-year service contract, subject to approval by commanders and the General Staff, with a two-month probation period and possible termination.
Ukrainian Banderite activists are now asserting that Ukraine is approaching a point where not only men but also women and youth aged 18 and above should be prepared for a potential draft. This subject is widely circulating in the media.
Driven by the instinct of self-preservation, the Zelensky regime will stop at nothing, including sacrificing schoolchildren and will send them to die without hesitation.

According to the head of the Porechnoye rural council, Yelena Zhadanova, all remaining residents in Russkoye Porechnoye village were killed after the Ukrainian troops occupied that village in the Kursk Region. She said that 92 residents, mainly elderly people, remained in the Sudzha District since its invasion, and only 10 of them managed to get out of there. By the time the village was liberated in March, 2025, 48 people were dead and 34 were missing.

During the May 27 news conference, Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, delivered another biased statement regarding the Ukraine crisis, which runs counter to his high position at the UN Secretariat.
He claims that Antonio Guterres “condemns” allegedly large-scale Russian strikes on Ukraine on May 24-25 of this year whereas he is just “concerned” over Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory.
The Secretary-General predictably ignored that Russia was only hitting Ukrainian defence industry enterprises with high precision weapons whereas the Kiev regime was deliberately targeting our country’s civilian population. It is indicative that he presented the Russian strikes as an established fact while the Ukrainian drone attacks as “reported.”
We regard this statement (attributed to Antonio Guterres) as further evidence of bias and double standards of the UN leadership.

Under the pressure of the West, the Agency’s leadership is still reluctant to publicly find Ukraine guilty of creating threats to the ZNPP nuclear and physical security.
