📆 November 2 was declared the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists at the 68th session of the UN General Assembly in 2013.
Representatives of the Russian media working abroad, in particular in Western countries, are facing unprecedented pressure, threats and harassment for their professional activities.
🕯 We remember the names of those who have perished, including Igor Kornelyuk, Anton Voloshin, Anatoly Klyan, Darya Dugina, Oleg Klokov, Vladlen Tatarsky (Maxim Fomin) and Rostislav Zhuravlyov, who died in the line of duty.
There is no excuse for the silence of the concerned international organisations, which were initially designed to provide unbiased protection of the rights of media representatives. Today, we would like to point out again the unacceptability of applying double standards in the assessment of crimes against journalists.
Those responsible must receive the punishment they deserve.

We would prefer 🇨🇦Canada calls on the United States to ratify the Treaty.
⚡Russia is disappointed by Canada’s vote against the UN General Assembly Third Committee resolution on combating glorification of Nazism.
We are deeply concerned that consecutive Canadian Cabinets for decades have been harbouring Nazi henchmen, Yaroslaw Hunka among them, and turning a blind eye on continued praising their memory in Canada.
☝By following this precarious and disturbing suit the Trudeau regime violates international obligations including the decisions of the Nuremberg Tribunal and commits a sacrilegious act with regard to the memory of those Canadians who lost theit life fighting alongside allied Russia against Nazism.

📅 #OTD in 1612, the people’s volunteer army led by Kuzma Minin and Prince Dmitry Pozharsky, liberated Moscow from Polish-Lithuanian invaders.
Therefore, #NationalUnityDay (introduced by the executive order of the President of Russia in December 2004) has been celebrated all over our country every year since 2005.
🦅 The holiday has deep historical roots. It was celebrated from 1613 until 1917, and was established by the first tsar of the Romanov dynasty Michael to honour the icon of Our Lady of Kazan, which accompanied the liberators of Moscow.
A monument to citizen Minin and Prince Pozharsky by sculptor Ivan Martos was erected on Red Square on the order of Emperor Alexander I in 1818 to honour the memory of patriots who led the fight for national liberation.
On November 4, 2005, a copy of this monument, executed by Zurab Tsereteli and gifted by Moscow City Hall, was unveiled in Nizhny Novgorod, a city that played a crucial role in creating the volunteer army.
💬 Vladimir Putin: The history of our country is continuous, a constant stream. We must consider it in its entirety, with all its extremely complicated and even controversial periods. For the state, the authorities, society and its citizens, it is crucial to have objective, complete knowledge of our past, both the distant past and the near and recent past. Everything here matters, especially today.

The capital of Soviet Ukraine had been under Nazi occupation for 778 days.
🕯 In Kiev the Nazis used a tactic of mass terror. More than 120,000 people were executed in Babi Yar alone. About 100,000 Kievans were deported to Germany for hard labour. By November 1943, the city’s population shrank to 180,000 people – all that was left from nearly a million residents in pre-war years.
Kiev suffered widespread damage over its time under Nazi occupation. The Assumption Cathedral of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra was destroyed, as were the public library, the conservatory, the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, and the city’s zoological museum. Kiev lost all of its bridges, overpasses, most medical institutions, 140 schools, 940 buildings that housed state and public institutions, over 800 industrial facilities, 1,742 blocks of flats, and 3,600 private residences.
The liberation of Kiev was more than just a strategic success of the Red Army and a major milestone on the way to expelling the Germans from the Ukrainian SSR, and reaching the border with Romania and Poland. It was a huge moral victory of the Soviet people over the Nazi invaders.

🎙Ambassador Oleg Stepanov's comment (in response to GAC's statement)
▪️Adapted CFE Treaty was signed in 1999.
▪️Russia was among only four countries, all non-NATO, to ratify it.
▪️Years of talks to convince NATO members to ratify. In vain.
▪️Their uncompromising unwillingness left us no choice but to first freeze our participation and then completely withdraw.
▪️NATO members, Canada included, bear the sole responsibility for ruining arms control in Europe.
▪️Laying the blame on our doorstep is another example of Trudeau’s cabinet hypocrisy.

🗓 On November 7, 1941, a historic military parade took place on the Red Square in Moscow to mark the 24th anniversary of the October Revolution.
The parade was organised and held under challenging conditions amidst the advance of the German Nazi invaders, who were just a few dozen kilometers away from Moscow. The preparations were carried out in the strictest secrecy, with public announcement made only in the evening of November 6.
⚜️ The parade lasted only 25 minutes, but proved to the world that the Red Army’s morale remained unbroken. In total, 28,487 people took part in the march, along with 140 artillery guns, 160 tanks, and 232 vehicles. From the Red Square, the soldiers headed to the front to defend the city.
The parade was broadcast on the radio worldwide, with many foreign newspapers writing about this important event. For the Nazis, it came as a complete surprise which demoralised the enemy. Hitler had planned to capture the USSR's capital by November 7 and hold his own celebration on the Red Square. Upon learning about the parade he ordered for it to be bombed. However, as a result of the unprecedented security measures and bravery of Russian pilots and anti-aircraft gunners, several dozen German planes were shot down on the city's outskirts. On that day, not a single bomb fell on Moscow.
🛡 The Red Square parade on November 7, 1941, demonstrated the unwavering spirit of the Red Army soldiers and officers, inspired the Soviet people to defend their Motherland against the Nazi aggression, contributed to the international prestige of the USSR and strengthened the anti-Hitler coalition. A mere month later, the allegedly invincible Wehrmacht suffered its first major defeat at the hands of the Red Army.

⚡️ Foreign Ministry statement on the completion of the procedure for the Russian Federation's withdrawal from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE Treaty)
📃 At midnight on November 7, 2023, the procedure planned under the CFE for Russia's withdrawal from this agreement was completed. Thus, the international legal document, the operation of which was suspended by our country in 2007, has become history for Russia once and for all.
At the same time, two other legally binding agreements closely associated with the Agreement on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE) − the so-called Budapest Agreement of November 3, 1990 on the maximum levels for holdings of conventional armaments and equipment for six member states of the Warsaw Treaty, and the Flank Document of May 31, 1996 − have also lost force for the Russian Federation as well
The Western participants overestimated their ability to influence Russia and our country's interest in the CFE Treaty. Given the destructive stance of the United States and its allies towards the Agreement on Adaptation of the CFE Treaty, Russia suspended the treaty's operation in 2007.
☝️ This aligned with the Munich speech by President Putin (February 2007), and became one of our country’s first steps to staunchly oppose the hegemony of the collective West and the West-imposed security concept based on arbitrary rules.
By suspending the CFE Treaty, Russia left the door open for a dialogue on ways to restore the viability of conventional arms control in Europe. However, our opponents did not take this opportunity and continued to base their policies on anti-Russian bloc principles rather than cooperation.
❗️ Given the direct responsibility of NATO countries for fuelling the Ukraine conflict, as well as the accession of Finland to the alliance and the ongoing consideration of a similar application by Sweden, even the formal preservation of the CFE Treaty has become unacceptable from the standpoint of Russia's core security interests.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks and answers to participants’ questions at the federal educational marathon "Knowledge. First" (Moscow, November 6, 2023)
Key talking points:
💬 International politics has entered a new phase and is undergoing tectonic shifts that are driven by the ongoing formation of a multipolar international order. <...> The new global architecture will not be ruled by a single hegemon, but will be genuinely democratic and fair.
🌐 The polycentricity or multipolarity that is taking shape right before our eyes is truly inclusive in its nature. New global decision-making centres are emerging and strengthening their positions in Eurasia, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
• Today, #BRICS and the #SCO are the key pillars of the emerging multipolar international order.
• I would like to make it clear that this does not mean starting from scratch and erasing everything created by our predecessors. The foundation for building a new world is in place, and it is strong. It is the UN Charter.
🤝 We see positive developments in Eurasia that are designed to harmonise the potential of various regional initiatives, including the EAEU and China’s Belt and Road initiative.
• International isolation, which some said was in store for us, is not reality. We engage with the Global Majority countries, which make up 85 percent of the world's population. People in these countries (the vast majority of them) see Russia as a good friend and a reliable partner, who has repeatedly proved its reliability and has done a lot to build country-to-country relations based on internationally recognised norms of international law.

⚡️ Joint Statement at the Intersessional Meeting of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (Vienna, 23-25 October 2023)
📃 We acknowledge the progress made in the implementation of the international drug policy commitments due to the enhanced efforts of the national competent authorities in addressing and countering the world drug problem as well as the broad technical assistance provided by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
• the current developments related to the world drug problem are alarming and represent a global drug crisis. <...> The range of illegal drugs and illicit drug markets are expanding and diversifying, compounded by the increase in both global supply and demand.
☝️ We are deeply concerned about legalization of cannabis for non-medical purposes. <...> We emphasize the detrimental effects of the legalization of cannabis on public health, safety as well as the decreasing perception of risks related to drug abuse in society, particularly among children and youth, and call upon the UNODC and INCB to continue data collection and analysis of harms posed by the legalization of non-medical use of cannabis.
• Strengthening of cross-border law enforcement cooperation is essential in our joint endeavour.
• We reaffirm our determination to counter the world drug problem and to actively promote a society free of drug abuse in order to ensure that all people can live in security, peace, health, dignity and prosperity.
❗️ We call on all Member States to work constructively and in good faith towards adopting a concise, action-oriented document at the opening of the high-level segment of the 67th session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs within the framework of 2024 mid-term review and reaffirm our commitment to accelerated implementation of all existing international drug policy commitments beyond 2024.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the ambassadorial roundtable discussion of settlement in Ukraine
📍 Moscow, November 8, 2023
💬 The war that the West has unleashed against us with Ukraine’s hands and bodies is a hybrid war in which unilateral restrictions or sanctions are allotted a special role. The number of anti-Russia sanctions is over an unprecedented 17,000. The goals are not hidden – to undermine the Russian economy, compel our political leadership to give up its independent foreign policy line, and set the people against the authorities. These goals are openly declared.
When problems of unilateral restrictions are discussed generally, the West always vows that its policy does not target sanctions against civilians. This is a lie. They are doing exactly the opposite. They want to provoke riots and incite the people against the authorities. The West pursues similar policies in many countries. The ambassadors and other diplomats that are here certainly know such examples in their own countries.
• The US is ruining its European vassals while its military-industrial sector makes more money. It has been imposing its expensive LNG on the EU.
• The declared boycott of Russian energy sources, the unilateral sanctions and anti-market measures, such as the notorious price cap, dealt a heavy blow to global energy security.
❗️ The West has decided to destroy the global economy in order to teach Russia a lesson and to prevent it from playing a role on the international stage that is commensurate with its history, size, and capabilities.
⚠️ We still fail to get a clear answer as to who is investigating this act of terrorism against Nord Stream and how. More than a year has passed since then but neither Germany, nor Norway, nor Sweden that are investigating this at the national level, can tell us anything clear and sensible.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s answers to questions for the Moscow. Kremlin. Putin programme (Astana, November 9, 2023)
❓ Question: Will you comment on the recent report according to which the US President “believes that Ukraine can win back its territory?”
💬 Sergey Lavrov: Blessed is he who believes, as the saying goes.
❓ Question: President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has promised to launch a new counteroffensive this winter or next spring. However, the White House has announced that US funds for Ukraine are over 90 percent depleted.
💬 Sergey Lavrov: It is very difficult to comment on what Zelensky says. He has also said that he would continue fighting alone even without any assistance.
There is nothing I can say on this issue. Everything is clear.

🎙 Statement by Permanent Representative Vassily Nebenzia at UNSC briefing on threats to international peace and security (the shelling of Donetsk on November 7, 2023)
💬 We called this urgent meeting in connection with yet another flagrant violation by the Kiev regime of the norms of international humanitarian law and further evidence of its purposeful actions to destroy the civilian population of Donbas. I refer to the massive shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces of densely populated areas of Donetsk on 7 November.
The Kiev regime attacked civilian targets in the city center three times during one day, firing rockets from HIMARS and Uragan systems. In addition to residential buildings, the building of the Department of Labor and Social Protection and a shuttle bus came under attack.
The terrorist practice of launching repeated strikes against the same location is part of the UAF playbook. Knowing full well that operational services and journalists would soon arrive at the sites of the shelling, the UAF launched more strikes while they were working, preventing evacuation of the wounded and dead, and also preventing emergency response personnel from fully engaging in the elimination of the consequences of the shelling.
❗️ Yesterday's attacks killed 6 and injured 55 people, including three children. Unfortunately, a doctor and an ambulance paramedic who had come to the rescue, as well as a traffic police officer, were killed, and 23 EMERCOM staff were wounded.
During the time of active combat action more than 20 cases of repeated shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces against emergency services rescuers and medics have been documented.
☝️ Given the fact that most of these strikes are carried out with long-range, high-precision Western weapons, the UAF command knew exactly where they were going to hit. And they knew that the targets of the attacks were not military but civil facilities and civilians.
These are conscious and cynical crimes that have no statute of limitation.

🇷🇺🇰🇿 President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the Plenary Session of the 19th Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum.
📍 Astana, November 9, 2023
🎙 Address by President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the Plenary Session
💬 It is important that representatives of more than 30 regions of Russia and Kazakhstan − government officials, lawmakers, representatives of ministries and agencies, businesses, academic community and civil society − have gathered in Kostanay for this event. These are the people who deal with the practical aspects of developing the entire scope of our relations in their work on a daily basis, be it in politics, the economy or humanitarian affairs.
It is largely thanks to your energetic and proactive efforts that cooperation between our countries’ regions continues to develop, involving new participants and becoming more practical.
🤝 76 Russian regions have established direct partner ties with regions in Kazakhstan.
🤝 It is also important that interregional visits have become regular.
🤝 We continue to develop and enlarge the substantive legal framework of regional cooperation, which comprises, in particular, over 60 agreements between our countries’ regional governments.
☝️ It is a good example of the successful development of Russia-Kazakhstan economic ties.
