Hardly worth saying that I have been monitoring closely political and public discussions in the wake of the outrageous commemoration of the Ukrainian Nazi henchman Yaroslav Hunka in the Canadian parliament.Following recent developments in the House of Commons, I would like to draw attention to a fact that was omitted from the story.
The 14th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS "Galicia" has committed multiple war crimes, including mass murder, against the Russian people, ethnic Russians.This is a proven fact.
In this regard,I believe that in a multicultural society of Canada, the Parliament and the Government of this country owe a formal and unequivocal apology to all Russians and the Russian Canadian community.An intention to ignore and to exclude from the memory the genocide against Russians committed by the Waffen SS,including the "Galicia" division, is unacceptable. Therefore,I am waiting for the reaction of the Canadian authorities.

💬 It has been a year since the sabotage in the Baltic Sea and almost as much since the Security Council convened on this issue for the first time. During that time, we have heard numerous assertions that national investigations by Germany, Denmark, and Sweden would allow to identify the perpetrators very soon. However there have been no results so far despite the seven UNSC meeting in both open and closed formats.

🔹 More and more evidence is emerging in the expert community that it is Washington who stood behind the disruption of the Nord Stream pipeline and went ahead with this outrageous criminal act guided by a narrowly self-interested desire to consolidate its dominance in Europe, which is in dire need of Russian energy.

🔹 In November, General Prosecutor’s Office of Russia submitted requests to competent German, Danish, and Swedish authorities to provide legal aid and establish joint investigative taskforce. We received but formal replies.

🔹 Some Western delegations on the Council, unable to cope with their emotions, directly pointed out at our meetings that the disruption of Nord Stream had been a response to Russia's actions in Ukraine. Such candid confessions would have allowed even a novice investigator to conclude this case without much trouble. But since Germany, Denmark and Sweden have been ordered to fence off the complicity of their overseas "big brother", their investigators have their hands tied and eyes closed.

☝️ Our country will continue to seek an objective & thorough establishment of all the circumstances of the incident, with the obligatory involvement of Russian investigative bodies & interested parties, as well as bringing to justice all those who ordered & perpetrated the sabotage. To that end, we will use all means available, including in the Security Council.

The Prime Minister’s “apology”, which we heard today in the House of Commons, is not an apology. And it is not enough.

My country was the main force in defeating Nazi Germany in Europe during WWII. Russia/USSR losses were devastating. 11 million military personnel fell on the battlefields and 16 million civilians died due to the ethnic purges under the Nazi occupation at the hands of the SS, including the notorious 14th Division of the SS “Galicia”, death squads (Einsatzgruppen) and Nazi collaborators. Imagine – this is the combined current population of Ontario, Québec, and British Columbia provinces!

❓ Question: I have to ask about a pressing topic, Armenia. Do you think Armenia may lose Russia?

💬 Sergey Lavrov: There are plenty of those willing to lose Russia and gain new friends.

Historically, geographically and geopolitically, it is simply not possible to lose Russia by totally ignoring its interests in the South Caucasus. Yet, certain top officials in Yerevan harbour such hopes, and openly admit it.

A similar idea was alluded to in the recent remarks by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who spoke about the need to make up for the failed alliances that Armenia had expected to ensure its security, and to expand its circle of security partners.

If they are counting on the US (which directly follows from statements made by many Armenian leaders), they had better look at recent history to see how the US treated those it sought to take under its wing as it advanced its geopolitical interests in faraway territories of the world.

☝️ The fate of all these people is rather unenviable.

🇷🇺🇦🇿📞 On September 27, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke over the phone with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov.

The Ministers discussed developments in Karabakh, including issues of providing humanitarian assistance and ensuring the rights and security of the local Armenian population.

The Parties considered ways to further implement the set of trilateral agreements, made at the highest level in 2020-2022, regarding the development of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan, the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and the unblocking of transport connections.

A number of topics on the bilateral and regional agendas were also addressed.

It was agreed that further contacts would be held at various levels.

I congratulate you on the occasion of the Day of Reunification of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions with Russia.

A year ago, on September 30, a defining and truly historic event took place when agreements were signed to incorporate four new constituent entities into the Russian Federation.

🇷🇺 Millions of residents of Donbass and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions made their choice to be with their Fatherland.

This conscious, long-awaited, hard-won and genuinely popular decision was made collectively through referendums in full compliance with international norms. People showed courage and integrity in the face of attempts to intimidate and deprive them of their right to determine their own future, their destiny, and to take away something every person values, namely, culture, traditions, and mother tongue, in a word, everything that was loathed by nationalists and their Western patrons who orchestrated a coup in Kiev in 2014 and then unleashed a full-scale civil war and terror against dissenters and organised blockades, constant shelling, and punitive actions in Donbass.

☝️ But nothing and no one can break the will of millions of people, or their belief in truth and historical justice. The free and unequivocal choice of our brothers and sisters was wholeheartedly supported by the Russian people. We understood and deeply felt the most important thing: by defending our compatriots in Donbass and Novorossiya, we are defending Russia itself.

📅 On September 29, 2023, the fifth meeting of the Moscow Format Consultations on Afghanistan at the level of special representatives and senior officials from China, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was held.

Called on the current Afghan authorities:

• step up cooperation with the regional countries in the fight against the threats of terrorism and drug-trafficking emanating from the Afghan territory. Most participants stressed their opposition to the support for terrorism in Afghanistan by external forces.

• provide the necessary conditions to improve the welfare of the Afghan people, prevent their further migration and provide conditions for the return of the refugees.

• stablish a practical, outcome-oriented dialogue with the representatives of alternative ethno-political groups with a view to completing the process of peaceful settlement and forging a balanced, more broad-based, inclusive, accountable and responsible government in Afghanistan.

☝️ The participants stressed upon their concern about imposed restrictions on women's employment and girls' education. Urged the current Afghan authorities to promote the modern education in the schools conforming to international standards.

The Parties advocated for Afghanistan as an independent, united and peaceful state. They underscored the unacceptability of deployment of military infrastructure facilities of third countries in Afghanistan and its neighboring states under any pretext.

🤝 The Parties noted the proposal of I.R.Iran to strengthen regional cooperation on Afghanistan by establishing a regional contact group to discuss the issues of common interests.

🗓 On September 29, Kazan hosted the 5 th Meeting of the Moscow format on Afghanistan with the participation of special representatives and senior officials from Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Representatives of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye also attended the meeting as invited parties. Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi took part in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Participants exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan with an emphasis on regional security and that country’s integration into regional economic processes. The prevailing point of view was that it was crucial to immediately and unconditionally unblock the Afghan assets by Washington and its allies, who bear the main responsibility for the post-conflict reconstruction of the Afghan economy, and that any return of US and NATO military structures to the territory of Afghanistan or its neighbouring states under any pretext was unacceptable.

☝️ The Participants once again called on the Afghan authorities to create a truly inclusive system of government reflecting the interests of all key ethno-political groups in the country and also to step up counter-terrorism and anti-drug efforts.

All the Participants gave assurances to continue providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.

📄 At the end of the meeting, the Participants adopted the Kazan Declaration of the Moscow format of consultations on Afghanistan.

✉️ Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sent congratulations to the newly elected heads of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, noting their significant contribution to ensuring the comprehensive development of the regions and creating conditions for raising the welfare of the people.

He emphasised the importance of further efforts to integrate the Donetsk People's Republic, the Lugansk People's Republic, and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into the legal and socioeconomic system of our country.

☝️ He confirmed the readiness of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to assist in establishing and promoting international relations at the regional level in line with the unified foreign policy course of the country.
