📅 #OnThisDay 1️⃣5️⃣0️⃣ years ago the legendary Alexandra Kollontai (1872-1952) was born - one of the most renowned and well-respected women of the XXth century.
👩💼 In the wake of the October 1917 Revolution in Russia, she was appointed in November of the same year People's Commissar for Welfare of the RSFSR, becoming the first female minister in the history of humankind.
💼 Even more outstandingly, Alexandra Kollontai went down in history as the first Russian/Soviet female ambassador. In fact, it was only decades later that in Europe women started serving in this position.
✍️ This strong, bright, and extremely talented woman devoted almost 35 years of her life to diplomatic service. Having retired, she spent the remainder of her life writing memoirs. Her diaries and memoirs are valuable historical sources. Kollontai passed away on March 9, 1952, and was laid to rest at Moscow’s Novodevichy Cemetery.

🗓 It is now more than a month since Russia has started special military operation in Ukraine aimed at the defense of Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. It has been dramatic and traumatic period for many Ukrainians. The sad truth is that the suffering of the predominantly Russian people of the South-East of Ukraine started much earlier – eight years ago, in 2014.
Perhaps this article will give our Irish readers a reason to give a chance to an idea that people of Donbass also deserve better and peaceful life now and in the future, while racism, neo-Nazism and hatred should be resolutely rejected.
