🎙 Comment by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on the Kiev regime’s attempted terrorist attacks in Crimea
💬 The Kiev regime once again attempted a terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge, this time by launching an S-200 surface-to-air guided missile converted to a strike munition. According to the Defence Ministry of Russia, the missile was promptly spotted and intercepted in the air by Russian air defence systems. There are no victims or destroyed property. Later, yet another enemy missile was shot down by the Russian air defence forces over the Kerch Strait.
In addition, Crimea came under a mass Ukrainian drone attack. Fourteen out of the 20 drones were destroyed by the air defence, with another 6 neutralised by EW systems.
❗️ We resolutely condemn these terrorist attacks. The Crimean Bridge is a purely civilian infrastructure facility, and attacks on it are inadmissible. It has been exposed to such attacks since last autumn, and they led to civilian casualties.
Thus, unable, despite the massive Western aid, to change the situation on the contact line, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are attempting to retaliate against civilian infrastructure and peaceful civilians by using underhand terrorist methods.
☝️ These acts of sabotage provide the international public with yet another opportunity to see the true nature of the Kiev regime. There is no excuse for these barbarous actions and they will not be left without a response.

📹 Address of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on the opening of the Army 2023 International Military Technical Forum
💬 Vladimir Putin: Over the past years, the forum has rightfully earned high prestige and broad recognition. The event has become one of the world's largest venues for showcasing innovations and modern military products, has made a significant contribution to the development of military technical cooperation, and overall, to the expansion of Russia's multifaceted ties with foreign countries.
<...>
☝️ Russia is open to deepening its technological partnerships and military-technical cooperation with other countries on equal terms, and to working with all those seeking to assert their national interests and independent development path, all countries that believe that working together to build an equal and indivisible security framework is essential as a reliable safeguard for every state.
We are also pleased with more and more foreign defence companies joining the forum. Last year, 32 foreign participants exhibited their products here; this year, their number has grown to 82.
We intend to continue taking advantage of the already established cooperation ties as well as to create new ones based on many years of successful experience of mutually beneficial partnerships.
🤝 We propose developing cooperation in a variety of areas, including personnel training, training foreign military personnel and improving their qualifications, conducting joint command post and other joined exercises. And we expect that, as before, important agreements and export contracts will be signed on the sidelines of the forum.

📅 #OnThisDay in 1945, Soviet troops and Korean patriots liberated the territory of Korea, ending the Japanese colonial occupation.
▪️Korea remained under Japan’s colonial rule for 35 years after its annexation in 1910, with the Japanese colonial administration conducting a policy of forced assimilation and seeking to root out the Korean language and culture.
In November 1943, the United Kingdom, the United States, and China agreed in Cairo to deprive Japan of all its conquered territories. In July 1945, at the Potsdam Conference, the USSR, the United States, and Great Britain demanded that Japan surrender unconditionally and called for restoring Korea as a sovereign state.
On August 9, 1945, the Soviet Union joined the war against Japan by launching a military campaign against the Kwantung Army in Manchuria and Korea in keeping with its commitments to the Allies. The 25th Army of the Red Army’s 1st Far Eastern Front, supported by Korea’s national liberation movement, fought against nine formidable Japanese divisions on the Korean Peninsula.
📻 On August 14, the main phase in the USSR’s Manchurian operation came to an end. It was on this day that Emperor Hirohito of Japan recorded a radio message announcing Japan’s unconditional surrender. Broadcast in Korea on August 15, this message caused jubilation all around the peninsula. Today, this day is a state holiday in both the DPRK and the Republic of Korea.
To streamline the capitulation of the Japanese army, the Soviet Union and the United States divided the peninsula into two spheres of influence along the 38th parallel, with the USSR in charge of the territories to the north of it, and the US to the south. The American troops completed their deployment in their southern section after the hostilities were over and the signing by Japan of its capitulation act.
🕯 Twelve thousand Soviet soldiers and officers fell while waging a courageous struggle for the freedom and independence of the Korean people.

💬 Over three years ago, Britain officially left the EU under Tory leadership. This is how Brexit happened.
During that time, in surveys, rankings on trust… in the EU have substantially increased in the UK.
As The Guardian writes, “Britons have more confidence in the EU than Westminster, poll finds. Faith in a bloc higher than that in the UK parliament for the first time in three decades of the World Values Survey. People in Britain have more confidence in the EU than the UK parliament, reversing a state of affairs that has lasted for more than 30 years, research reveals.”
On the eve of the election year of 2024, the Tory leadership is in panic. Its rankings are taking a disastrous dive.
Political tension is a derivative of economic problems. Britons are displeased with the Brexit-provoked drop in their living standards and zero growth in the national economy after the COVID-19 pandemic (Britain is the only country in the G7 that has never reached pre-pandemic levels in its GDP).
Now, ratings of the Conservatives are fluctuating at between 25 and 30 percent. This information comes not from Kremlin propagandists, whom London accuses of everything, but from British political scientists.
The attempts to somehow save the reputation of the party spoiled by the intellect of Liz Truss and the alcoholic parties of Boris Johnson at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic are not producing positive results. Less than a quarter of all Britons trust Rishi Sunak. This is hardly surprising – his government is resolving Ukrainian problems instead of British problems.
A large economic crisis, tensions in the kingdom with Scotland, a post-Brexit deadlock and an unprecedented decline in the level of Britons’ confidence in the authorities are becoming the main results of a 13-year inglorious and populous Tory rule in Britain.
But Ukraine is still “one love” as they say, and the British government is fighting Russia rather than for the quality of life on the island.

📹 President Vladimir Putin’s video address to the participants and guests of the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security (August 15, 2023)
💬 Vladimir Putin: We see a multipolar world order gradually take shape. Most countries are ready to assert their sovereignty and defend their national interests, traditions, culture and way of life. New economic and political centres are consolidating their standing.
⚠️ At the same time, long-standing hotbeds of conflict are simmering in various parts of the world, and new ones are being provoked.
NATO member states persist in ramping up and upgrading their offensive capabilities, striving to bring the military confrontation into outer space and the cyberspace. They use military and non-military means to pressure others. And all this is taking place amid a disintegrating arms control framework.
The United States is intent on reformatting the existing system of interstate relations in the Asia-Pacific region as it deems fit. In fact, efforts to promote these so-called Indo-Pacific strategies are aimed at creating US-led military and political associations.
There are simmering hotbeds of tension in other regions of the world too. Every region may be special in terms of the security challenges it faces, but all these issues stem from the West’s reckless geopolitical undertakings and selfish neo-colonial actions.
☝️ Let me reiterate that it is only by having the international community work together that we can lower the degree of confrontation on the global and regional levels, neutralise challenges and risks and build confidence between states, while also creating broad development opportunities. This is rather obvious today.

🎙 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security (Moscow, August 15, 2023)
🔹 The very possibility of the dominance of one country or even a group of states is disappearing into oblivion. Today, it is of the essence to build a truly democratic multipolar world order based on generally recognised international legal norms, primarily the principles of the UN Charter.
🔹 In violation of the UN Charter, the Americans and their NATO satellites are trying to tell other countries which allies to choose or avoid. Westerners demonstrate blatant intolerance towards dissent, seeking to usurp the prerogative to shape the global agenda in all its aspects.
🔹 Washington and its allies are not embarrassed by the fact that through their actions they are threatening global stability, creating new risks, and undermining supply chains, as well as food and energy security.
🔹 In order to save their geopolitical project to “contain Russia” and to split the Russian world, the United States, NATO and the EU are flooding Ukraine with increasing amounts of modern weapons, thus stoking the conflict and provoking the unchecked spread of weapons around the world.
🔹 The geopolitical situation makes it difficult for us to pool efforts to neutralise the threats that are common to humanity, including fighting international terrorism, especially jihadist organisations.
🔹Everyone should learn their lessons from the tragic consequences of the wars unleashed by the United States and its allies. We believe it is important that the UN, which has of late been fairly quiet in this regard, should act proactively and step up its efforts in fighting terrorism without relying on double standards.
🔹 Russia will continue to consolidate the efforts of the international community to counter global and regional challenges and threats, to promote a positive agenda, to contribute to strengthening international security and stability

⚡️ Briefing by Chief of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Protection Troops of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov on US military-biological activity (August 16, 2023)
◽️ Despite the fact that the stated goals of US programmes are to monitor disease incidence and provide assistance to developing countries, in fact, we see the Pentagon conducting uncontrolled dual-use research in circumvention of international obligations under the BTWC.
☝️ There is a clear trend: pathogens that fall within the Pentagon's area of interest, such as COVID-19, avian influenza, African swine fever, subsequently become pandemic, and American pharmaceutical companies become the beneficiaries.
***
◽️ The next step, taken by the United States to realise its strategic plans in establishing global biological control, was the creation of the Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy.
It is envisaged that the new structure will be responsible for setting the course and coordinating actions to combat known and unknown biological challenges, including pathogens that could trigger another global emergency.
👉 Thus, as in 2019, the US has begun preparing for a new pandemic by searching for virus mutations.
The US Army Research Institute for Infectious Diseases, currently headed by Colonel Constance Jenkins, will play a leading role in the military department's biomedical warfare programme.
⚠️ Documents, obtained during the special military operation, show that the institution is directly involved in the collection of dangerous pathogens in various regions of the world, testing of unregistered drugs, as well as the implementation of dual-use programmes, ordered by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency of the US Department of Defense.

🇨🇦GAC colleagues,
FYI ➡️The #OHCHR report raises many questions in terms of credibility. This compilation of incoherent and unsubstantiated “testimonies” by random individuals is based on the “findings” of the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (HRMMU) that has long discredited itself. Nothing but unproven rumours.
Yet another example of the brand methodology by the OHCHR and the HRMMU of evidence-collecting in line with the notorious principles of “highly likely” and “grounds to believe”. The UN employees use an opaque system for selecting “witnesses” and ask them only “the right” questions.
No wonder there is not a single word about the atrocities committed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and/or the nationalist neo-Nazi battalions against civilians.
This report is biased, simply speaking.

Such approach of the OHCHR to the events in Ukraine no longer surprises. For almost 9 years, it did not notice any violations of international legal standards on human rights and international humanitarian law by the Kiev regime, including near daily artillery shelling of residential areas and civilian infrastructure in Donbass by Ukrainian militants. Not once during this period did the OHCHR urge Kiev junta to identify those responsible and bring them to justice for the deaths of the civilians as a result of actions by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This is further proof that the OHCHR has completely lost its independence. As well as the Trudeau regime that continues to broadcast Washington-created narratives on the situation in Ukraine.

🎙 Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s remarks at the opening ceremony of the rowing slalom canal
📍 Bogorodskoye, August 17, 2023
💬 Today, we are attending a momentous and historical event. We are opening a worldclass canal that meets all international criteria and even exceeds them in some ways, for the first time in our country.
It took us a long time to reach this date. For many years, we had to overcome obstacles that were not related to water rapids but demanded mobilisation of our efforts together with our main sponsor, RusHydro, owing to which we managed to resolve all the problems.
The canal meets the highest international standards. I am sure it will host both domestic and international competitions.
🚣 The main result is that we have received a great place for training masters and holding competitions here at home. Until now, our leading athletes, national, regional and club teams had to hold training sessions abroad. Now there is no need for this. I think our foreign colleagues will be asking us if they can hold training sessions here, in this great facility.

📍 Bogorodskoye, August 17, 2023
💬 I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all our whitewater fans on the opening of this magnificent facility, which is bound to become a point of growth for whitewater slalom not only in Bogorodskoye (I have no doubt about this as we all have seen a few excellent athletes from this village), but also across the Russian Federation.
Bogorodskoye’s bid to host the Canoe Slalom World Championships in 2026 was approved following the required procedures, but the matter was put on ice for clearly artificial geopolitical reasons. I am confident that we will fight for justice to prevail and for the decisions made to be implemented.
☝️ In any case, there is no doubt that the rowing facility in Bogorodskoye will host competitions at the highest level.

🎙 Statement by Chargé d'Affaires of the Russian Federation Dmitry Polyanskiy at UNSC briefing on the issue of weapon deliveries to Ukraine (August 17, 2023)
Read in full
💬 The complete collapse of the Ukrainian system of military administration, widespread corruption and disorganization repel even Western mercenaries, who begin to realise that the only role assigned to them is not the fight for Ukraine’s freedom, but being ordinary "cannon fodder".
🔹 Due to the all-out corruptness of the Ukrainian army, Western weapons are spreading uncontrollably around the world. Through black markets, they end up in conflict zones, in the Balkans, Africa, and Latin America, directly undermining regional security.
🔹 By emptying the arsenals of its satellites and promising subsidised supplies of Western-made equipment in return, the US authorities are "vacating" the market for the products of the US military-industry to sell them to partners – all according to a well-established pattern that dates back to the post-World War II period. Europe is once again paying for these new weapons not only in money, but also in sovereignty.
🔹 There is no doubt that in its "proxy war" with Russia to the last Ukrainian, the West is purposefully turning Ukraine into an uninhabitable testing site, contaminated with radioactive elements and unexploded ordinance.
🔹 The people of Ukraine begin to realise more and more clearly that the Kiev regime is pushing them down a suicidal path to serve the interests of Western countries.
