❗EMBASSY STATEMENT
21 March 2022
It is worrisome that major Canadian media outlets are full of disinformation. Besides joggling facts about the situation in Ukraine there is incompetence regarding events in Russia. In particular, on Saturday, March 19, CBC aired interview with Amnesty International Canada secretary general Ketty Nivyabandi who suggested thousands of Russians had been unlawfully arrested, and ex-editor of the Russian Channel One Marina Ovsyannikova even disappeared.
Four days before Ms. Nivyabandi’s comments, on March 15, Ms. Ovsyannikova had faced court hearing and had been released immediately after a fine for equivalent of about CAD300 without any further legal action. Pursuant to the verdict of the judge, she had violated §20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences for an attempt to organize non-agreed public event via video posted online. Since then, she has been freely giving interviews, including to the foreign reporters (e.g. ABC’s This Week).
As for the other protesters, they all had broken the rules for demonstration. The majority was set free in several hours, while those obstructing or assaulting police were fined or detained after appearing before the court. In Russia a right to express public protest is respected, however, there are local laws regulating that the demonstrations take place in an orderly manner.
☝️The inability of the representatives of such established media and NGO in Canada for fact-checking and unbiased analysis is surprising and unprofessional to say the least.

🇷🇺🇺🇦Statement of the Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine
◽️The Russian Federation continues its purposeful and coordinated work on the evacuation of civilians and foreign citizens from combat zones, as well as the provision of humanitarian assistance to the population in the territories of Ukraine liberated from neo-Nazis.
◽️As a result of the effective measures taken, without the participation of the Kiev authorities, 68,098 people have already been evacuated from Mariupol, where the humanitarian situation has taken catastrophic proportions. Saved from the horrors and lawlessness staged by the nationalists, people are now completely safe under the protection of the Russian Federation, all those in need are provided with the necessary assistance.
◽️Russian Federation continues to fully fulfill its humanitarian obligations.
◽️Today from 10 a.m. the Russian Federation has already provided humanitarian corridors for the eighteenth time in Kiev, Chernigov, Sumy and Kharkov directions, along one humanitarian corridor to the Russian Federation, and one more through the territories controlled by the Kiev authorities towards the western borders of Ukraine.
◽️Official Kiev has not agreed on any corridor towards Russia again.
◽️At the same time, the Ukrainian authorities additionally announced 4 more routes in Zaporozhye direction, cynically ignoring humanitarian corridors to the Russian Federation.
◽️Pursuing exclusively humane principles, in order to ensure the safe evacuation of civilians forcibly held by nationalists in blocked settlements, on all, including new routes, the Russian Armed Forces fully comply with the imposed ceasefire.

🕯 Today marks 2️⃣3️⃣ years since NATO began bombing #Yugoslavia.
◼️ Some 2,000 civilians, including at least 89 children were killed during the 78-day NATO campaign, and many facilities in dozens of cities, including Belgrade, were destroyed or damaged.
◼️ The use of depleted-uranium munitions contaminated large territories and caused an unprecedented surge in cancer cases. People continue to suffer from malignant tumours to this day.
❗️ On that day the West began dismantling the international legal framework.
Conducted 23 years ago, NATO’s military operation against sovereign Yugoslavia became a tragedy whose long-term and diverse consequences are still being felt. One of its main lessons is that lawlessness and arbitrary rule are unable to solve even a single problem and merely aggravate the situation. This is confirmed by permanent delays in resolving the Kosovo problem.
