Key points:
❗️President of Russia Vladimir Putin has said many times that we never reject any proposal to achieve diplomatic agreements. The terms on which we agree to discuss them are well known. The fact that four territories belong to the Russian Federation is an indispensable condition for talks.
🌐 I agree with those analysts reviewing the outgoing year who note that the discord between the West that claims hegemony & control over compliance with “its rules” everywhere, on the one hand, and the global majority, on the other, is an objective phenomenon. It was brewing and would have come to the surface eventually. We could no longer tolerate how Russians were being humiliated in Ukraine and how threats to our security were created there. We launched the special military operation that served as a catalyst and sharply accelerated this process.
⚠️ Our priority is the lives of the soldiers & civilians that remain in the zone of hostilities. We are patient people. We will defend our compatriots, citizens and lands that belonged to Russia for centuries, proceeding from these priorities.
🔸 We are at war with the collective West led by the United States which is a nuclear power. This war was declared years ago after the coup in Ukraine which was orchestrated by the US & supported by the EU, and after no one planned to act on the Minsk agreements.
🔸 Our Western colleagues used to say that “Russia needs to know its place”. <...> We were seen as an ordinary junior partner that had the resources needed by the West.
☝️ I am confident that with our resilience, patience and sense of purpose, we will defend the noble goals that are crucially important for our people and our country. We will do it consistently, while remaining ready for an equal dialogue and agreements that will ensure a truly equitable and indivisible security in Europe. This includes respect for Russia’s interests.

Russian President Vladimir Putin’s New 2023 Year address now available with English subtitles!
Key points:
1️⃣ 2022 was a year full of crucial and decisive events. It became a turning point that will shape the foundation of our shared future and Russia’s true independence.
2️⃣ Russia has once again proven that its sovereign, independent and safe future depends on its peoples, their strength and willpower.
3️⃣ For years the Western elites have been hypocritically ensuring us of their “peaceful intentions”, including the intent to find a solution to the acute Donbass crisis.
4️⃣ Turns out, the West has been lying to us about peace while preparing for an aggression. Now it openly admits it without a hint of shame.
5️⃣ The West uses Ukraine and its people to weaken and split Russia apart, but we will never allow this to happen.
6️⃣ Russia’s struggle for its interests and future is an example to others.

💬 Several days ago, the discussion about the use of the words "glory" and "hero" was revived.
I have already talked about this, both in a dry and official manner, as well as with emotion, and… in different ways.
Let me once again remind those who use these code words either because of their illiteracy or their immorality.
In August 1939, the second congress of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) was held in fascist Italy. One of the decisions of the congress was to adopt the unified greeting of the Ukrainian fascists at that time: “Glory to Ukraine!” and the response cry “Glory to the Leader!” (Vozhdevy Slava).
Later, in 1941, after the OUN split into two factions (the OUN(m) and OUN(b)), Bandera’s supporters held their own second congress of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists, this time in Krakow, where they also approved the slogan “Glory to Ukraine!” / "Glory to the heroes!". Both phrases – the greeting and the response – were agreed upon and approved as a symbolic greeting, a kind of call sign, a code in the “friend or foe” sense of recognition. At the same time, in order to emphasise their isolation, the Melnikovites adhered to the response phrase “Glory to the Leader.”
Another “spicy” moment is that, according to the documents approved at the 1941 congress, the greeting was accompanied by the following gesture: “the greeting is made in the form of raising the straightened right arm at an angle to the right just above the head.”
Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
This is how collaborators saluted the Wehrmacht and SS units back in those years, not just for their internal use, but for their identification in front of the Nazi SS.
The excuses of those who use the slogans today “jokingly” will not work. Every time someone uses these passcodes, they salute Nazism and fascism.

🎙 President of Russia Vladimir Putin congratulated all Orthodox Christians and all Russians celebrating Christmas.
💬 President Putin: This serene holiday, beloved by all, inspires noble deeds and aspirations, and serves to reinforce in society such eternal spiritual values and moral constants as mercy, empathy, kindness and justice.
It is deeply gratifying to note the enormous constructive contribution of the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations to unifying society, preserving our historical memory, educating the youth and strengthening the institution of family. Church organisations prioritise fostering interethnic and interfaith peace and harmony in our country, caring for the needy, and supporting our warriors taking part in the special military operation. Such massive, complex and truly selfless work deserves sincere respect.
I wish Orthodox Christians and all those celebrating Christmas good health, success and all the very best.

⚡️Urgent statement
of Joint Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine of Russian Federation
◽️The special services of Ukraine have prepared a new large-scale anti-Russian provocation aimed at discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and accusing Russian servicemen of allegedly committing war crimes.
◽️On the eve of the Orthodox Christmas, representatives of the State Bureau of Investigation and the Security Service of Ukraine arranged for the opening of graves in cemeteries near Kazachya Lopan, Velikiy Burluk, Shypovatoye and Khatnoye (Kharkov region), where local citizens were buried who died of natural causes during the deployment of Russian troops in these areas from February 24 to September 6, 2022.
◽️After the exhumation, the bodies of Ukrainian citizens were further disfigured and dumped into specially prepared ‘pits’ on the outskirts of these settlements to create false ‘evidence’ of alleged ‘torture’ and ‘shootings’ of civilians by Russian servicemen.
◽️Representatives of the Ukrainian special services and law enforcement agencies are currently photographing and videotaping the bodies of dead Ukrainian citizens, as well as imitating the work of ‘forensic experts’ and other ‘procedural actions’ in the presence of fake ‘witnesses’.
◽️Through these inhumane methods, Kiev regime, in the absence of any success on the battlefield, seeks to keep the attention of Western audiences and convince foreign partners of Kiev regime of the need to continue to support it.

⚡️ Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s comment on the January 8, 2022, events in Brazil’s capital
💬 The Foreign Ministry firmly condemns the actions by radical members of the Brazilian opposition who, on January 8, 2022, invaded government buildings located in the country’s capital.
❗️ We consider attempts to violate the constitutional order unacceptable, and express our full support to President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who was sworn in as President on January 1, 2022. We are certain that building on his authority, reaffirmed in a popular vote, as well as his experience in state governance, and based on the country’s democratic tradition, he will be able to overcome the consequences of these events.
The Foreign Ministry strongly believes in the importance of preserving internal stability in Brazil, a country that is Russia’s strategic partner, a proactive participant in BRICS and the Group of Twenty, and also a member of the UN Security Council at the moment.

🇷🇺🇨🇳📞 On January 9, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov spoke over the phone with Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Qin Gang.
The Russian Minister congratulated his Chinese colleague on his recent appointment and wished him success in this responsible position.
The two officials discussed topical matters on the bilateral, global and regional agendas. They rejected the policy of the United States and its satellites to establish a hegemony in global affairs, which prompts the West to provoke confrontation with Russia and China, interfere in their domestic affairs, and attempts to constrain the development of the two countries through sanctions and other illegitimate methods.
The ministers went on to state that Moscow and Beijing were united in their approaches to fundamental matters on the global development agenda. They gave a positive assessment of the constructive dialogue and high level of bilateral coordination in the United Nations, BRICS, the SCO, within the Group of Twenty, as well as at ASEAN cooperation platforms and other formats, with all these efforts fully in line with the trust-based partnership between the two countries.
Sergey Lavrov invited Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China Qin Gang to visit Russia at a convenient time.

🇻🇪 On developments in Venezuela
☝️ Supported and instigated by its Western sponsors, the Venezuelan radical opposition continued its attempts to breathe new life into the parallel National Assembly in order to hold onto the levers of power at any cost. At the same time, the correct and logical decision was made to bring the Juan Guaido-led “transitional government” to an end.
This confirmed what we have long been saying, notably, that the activities of a parallel power structure are not a lawful approach. Even the ideological inspirers in Washington, which tried to keep the Guaido project afloat until the last minute, eventually gave up on him because this impostor was corrupt and lost the public trust.
Obviously, the goals of those who tried to bring about a colour revolution in Venezuela, something that did not take place, remain the same. Unnamed sources in the US administration signaled that the White House would consider any new bodies set up by the Venezuelan “democratic forces” as a “transitional government.” They are not attempting to hide the ultimate goal of this farce – to maintain control over Venezuelan state funds that are in a foreign jurisdiction.
<...>
This is yet another example of the “rules-based order” that continues to be stubbornly pursued by Western capitals. This order is based on the striving of our opponents to impose their will on sovereign states.
❗️ We categorically reject overt blackmail, threats and illegal unilateral coercive measures used by the Western nations. The West is trying to present its own selfish aims as aspirations of other nations.
Only the universally recognised standards of international law and principles held in the UN Charter can serve as a foundation for equitable and mutually respectful interstate dialogue and for maintaining a sustainable and fair world order.

Ridiculous, in particular, against the backdrop of all the problems Canada suffers domestically. This is just an amused bystander observation. Of course, it’s up to the Canadians to decide if this policy is adequate.
