Critical Security Alert Regarding Cherrygram and ExteraGram Clients

​Continuing our investigation into compromised third party Telegram clients, we have uncovered severe privacy violations in Cherrygram and ExteraGram. These applications operate as covert data harvesting tools disguised as messaging clients.

​Cherrygram Firebase Backdoor
Cherrygram utilizes Firebase Analytics to silently exfiltrate user data. The source code contains a specific function that collects your Telegram ID, active username, and complete phone number. This highly sensitive information is then transmitted to external servers under the guise of a standard analytics event named "cg_p_share_info". This is a textbook example of a backdoor masquerading as simple app telemetry.

​Cherrygram Developer Lies Exposed
When confronted, the Cherrygram developer publicly claimed that this malicious code was never called and was completely removed during the compilation process. This is demonstrably false. A reverse engineering analysis of the compiled Cherrygram Premium application reveals that the data stealing code is not only present but is actively invoked in eighteen separate locations within the app. The code was merely obfuscated to hide its true nature, proving clear malicious intent.

Furthermore, Exteragram seems to have been developed using the same logic, so I don't even think it needs to be examined.

​Known Backdoored Third Party Telegram Clients
Please ensure you do not have any of the following compromised applications installed on your devices:

- ​Nekogram
- Cherrygram
- ​ExteraGram

​Protect your digital identity by sticking to official or thoroughly vetted open source communication tools. If you have root access, using xposed/lsposed modules seems more logical.
